I was thinking that we could have a thread discussing our video game console and game collections. Maybe discuss which is our favorite consoles, maybe how we got the consoles etc. Feel free to list any and all and have fun talking about it. I will start of course.
Home Consoles
NES -- My first console got it for my birthday which was launch day in NA. SNES N64 Virtual Boy Gamecube Wii Wii U Sega Genesis Sega Dreamcast Xbox 360 PS4 PS2 Magnavox Odyssey
Handhelds
Gameboy Gameboy Advance SP DS DS Lite 3DSXL
Consoles that I use to own
PS -- It broke years ago and at that time I had my PS2 so I never bought another one Gameboy Color -- Traded it in years ago for my Gameboy Advance SP
Most of my consoles I got for Christmas/birthday presents when I was a kid and they are still in working order, those are the NES, SNES, Gameboy, Virtual Boy, N64 and the Genesis. The PS2 was actually the first console I bought on my own with my own money.
My favorites are the SNES and the PS2 which I still use alot.

My home console are: SNES Wii Wii U Original Xbox PS2 PS3 PS4
My handheld consoles are: GBA PSP 3DS Vita
I used to own a DS, but sold it since the 3DS was backwards compatable. The PS2 and SNES are family consoles that were bought for siblings have since moved away. The Wii was a Christmas gift for me along with the DS. I bought everything else after that. (Though the Vita was Chirstmas combined with my money.)
My favorite home console is the PS3, it has so many greet games. The PS4 might take that position once it gets more games though. My favorite handheld is the 3DS.
I right now, the only consoles I have are Wii U, PS3 and my sister's 3DS. I used to own a SNES, Gameboy Color, PS1, Gamecube, DS Lite, DSi and a Wii but gave them all a way every time I got the new latest one to family and friends that couldn't afford a console or portable at the time.
My home consoles are: - Atari - SNES - Nintendo 64 - Nintendo Wii - Nintendo Wii U - Playstation 2 - Playstation 3 I used to have a PSOne but I sold it to get the PS2 since it is backwards compatible. The first home console that I bought with my own money without any kind of help was the PS3 and the second the Wii U. All the others were gifts or I had help to buy them. I think my favorite is the N64 as I was already into gaming and had a lot of free time, so I could enjoy it a lot more.
As for the handheld I have: - Game Boy Advance SP - Nintendo DS XL - Nintendo 3DS XL - Playstation Portable - Playstation Vita. My favourite is the 3DS, without a doubt. I play it every week, almost every day and always have a great time.
I've had a bunch in the past though, including NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, and XBox 360. I've always been a Nintendo guy for the most part, but the more time goes by, I'm turning into a Sony guy. I'm currently contemplating whether to get a PS Vita or PS4. I'm probably going to go with the Vita for now and get a PS4 when I see a good deal a year or so down the road.
NES - Not my original. After we got the SNES my mom gave our NES to our cleaning lady so several years later I bought another used one. SNES N64 - xmas Wii - lined up at launch with lots of desperate parents. Wii U - launch Sega Genesis - the sonic machine. I also played a game called Awesome Opossum a lot. And Animaniacs. And Aladdin. PS2 - The Final Fantasy XI machine. PS3 - Late to this party, but turned into one of my favorites. PS4 - launch
3DS - launch Vita - launch
I still want to go and buy a Gameboy and GBA to have again, but other than that I'll probably just keep up with all the new stuff Sony and Nintendo release. I bought a Xbox used at one point, but I only ever had a couple games and I sold it in a garage sale.
@Sanquine: I did the same thing with my first N64. I traded it in for a Gamecube figuring well I will never want to play it again since I am getting a Gamecube. Took me a few years to get another one. From that point on I never sold another console.
