Topic: Anyone noticed Vita price hikes on physical games?

As a relatively new Vita gamer, I have been thinking about buying up physical vita games since support is ebbing for Vita.

I am based in the UK and have noticed that new games seen to have hiked in price. For example, Amazon have some games that have gone way up. Second hand prices seem to have gone up a little. Anyone else seen this or am I just getting paranoid at the world?

@Rudy_Manchego: i never noticed myself

"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"

"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!

Depends on the games really, but it does indeed seem like quite a lot of them don't go on clearance and instead hold their price more or less till they go out of stock.
You can still get lucky on certain games but that probably depends on how many copies a publisher ordered and didn't actually sell all that well. EDF V2 for instance can be had for half price already.

I think this is a bit like Nintendo's market where there isn't a great deal of resale value compared to other consoles and games out at the moment, so the prices tend to stay pretty high unfortunately.

I noticed the same. Even things like Uncharted: Golden Abyss, you'd be pressed to pick it up for less than £15 physically, which while being cheap, is still expensive in comparison to similar era PS3 games.

@roe: Agreed - I think that simply stock is running out and there is not much demand for physical games so the older titles are just keeping their price.

On Amazon UK, I had in mind The Wolf Among Us as a physical edition and the price went up from £14.99 to over £20. Then again, and at the same time I noticed the stock levels are all very low. Compare that to the recent digital sale on PSN and it was going for £6 something.

It is hard to justify £20 for a game several years old on a handheld when the digital versions are being sold off. It is a shame, I would rather have physical.

I think that is the case. You can still get a few 'cheaper' western games (the usual suspects of Tearaway, Uncharted etc.) because those were more heavily stocked but I can see non-western games or smaller releases going further up and beyond £25.

The issue is, I think, that unlike a completely failed system there is a still a core of pro PS-Vita gamers that will pay more for titles. So stockists don't have much stock but people are paying for them. It is easier when a popular system dies and the market is awash with stock. It was similar with the Gamecube. For years, games kept their price, even second hand.
