I finally bought a Vita yesterday (only cost me £80! Theres some minor scratches to the rear touchpad but it seems to work fine. Apparently came with nothing but there was a 4GB memory card n a Fifa cartridge left in it. RESULT! ) I duley downloaded a couple of the PS+ offerings while I await my P4G n Project Diva F. Ive been impressed graphically by what Ive seen so far :
FIFA Football - Seems to run at the Vita's native resolution so the image is crystal clear with fairly high detail levels to boot. Fairly impressed although the stripped down nature of the game is a little disheartening Unit 13 - Main reason to download was due to it being Zipper's final game (RIP) but also to give the twin sticks a solid workout. Graphics are a tad jaggy but detail seems high and the character models look like there ripped straight from Socom SF. Would like to give the Co-op a try n see how the Vita is online. Gravity Rush - Now this looks good. Heavily stylised sure, but the red colour of enemies contrasts beautifully with the muted colours of the enviroment so it pop's on the odd occasion. It looks to run sub-native though, but it still looks really good with its neat cel-shaded effects. Most enjoyable game Ive played out of the 3 so far easily.
The Vita is a really sleek device. Controls always seem fluid and confortable. Can't beleive Ive been sat on the fence for so long. So what Im looking to ask now is peoples opinion on titles that make great use of the Vita's OLED screen? Im looking to try n entice my family n friends (who dont already have one) to grab a Vita and when it comes to casuals, graphics always impress the most. The more the image pop's on screen, the it Wows them lol Any ideas?
WipEout 2048, Virtua Tennis, Escape Plan, Super Stardust, and Hotline Miami all look ace.
Is the Vita Super Stardust any different from the Ps3 version? I already have it on Ps3 (worth it for the impressive effects in 3D) Ill be keeping an eye out for Wipeout 2048. Are you able to have a custom soundtrack on 2048? When I play Wipeout HD on Ps3 I have the Wipeout Fusion soundtrack as the in-game music instead lol

Stardust is a completely different game (though obviously similar). I think you can do custom tracks in WipEout, but I think that's because it's a "standard" feature in all Vita games. (Honestly, I've never tested it.)
You got a Vita for that cheap?! You're really lucky... Even though I don't own a Vita, per se, I've still played with one on a few occasions. WipEout 2048 looks absolutely stunning on that screen. The colors just pop out, and it feels like you're going really fast. Super Stardust also looks fantastic, as does Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
Actually, *every* game on the Vita looks great. I even liked looking at Retro City Rampage, since the OLED screen makes the colors pop so much. I don't know if there would be a wrong game to show to people.
Best thread ever
Feel free to add me on Miiverse or PSN.
Miiverse is Moomoo14, PSN is Moomoo1405390
@moomoo Very lucky indeed. Was a no-brainer at thte price it was. The scratches on the touchpad probably mean Im unable to trade it but I dont intend on getting rid of the Vita anyway. Ill hopefully be using it with my Ps4 for remote play n the like.
To be honest the screen on my PsPgo still impresses me. Going from a PsP1000 to a go was a real eye-opener. The step up with quality for the Vita is equally as stunning tho
@SuperSilverback As much as I dislike CoD nowadays I am intrigued by the Vita black ops. Ill probably try it if I can find it anywhere dirt cheap.
SO Wipeout 2048 seems to be coming highly recommended. Im a long time Wipeout fan anyway so I would've eventually have got it but I might see if I can grab a copy sooner this weekend in light of everyones recommendations so far
I've had the Vita over a year now - got an email the other day offering me free Home things as a present - and I've got to say I'm yet to be truly impressed with the screen. For all the talk its not a million miles from the 3DS and its graphics, just things are less jaggy. I've seen people say "I'll buy Game X On Vita rather than 3DS as it'll look better but the difference isn't as notable as people like to make out. Then again I'm not truly bothered as I couldn't give a toss whether a game is good looking or not, as long as the game is sound. Just so far I've yet to go "oooooo" like the first time I went from a Wii to PS3 (Galaxy and Galaxy 2 not included) and I can't recall any friends or relatives looking at the Vita and doing so either. But the games are good which is all that's important to me.
I got Declassified for dirt cheap last week and i really, really dont like it lol. Wipeout is great on the vita though yeah. Even better when you download the HD/Fury packs.
I think Rayman Origins is by far the best display. Not only does it look great and have incredible detail, but you can zoom in and it still looks amazing. The level of detail is crazy, I couldn't find one re-used sprite to save my life. I'm pretty sure it was hand-drawn, but don't hold me to that. So yeah Rayman looks best but Uncharted is the most life-like as far as character models and body movement.
how is the remote play for the Vita? Can DvD's etc be streamed via remote play? Ive got a few digital films stored to my Ps3 hard drive n wouldnt mind seeing how it plays out on the Vita. The image quality on the PsP looked a tad crap when doing remote play

Good call on Rayman Origins. Id forgot that I had activated it about a month ago before I had a Vita n only realised last night when browsing my download list. Ive been playing it quite a lot since. Its a decent platformer and the graphics are fabulous! Looks as good as the console versions id seen
Been playing Persona 4 Golden lately n I must say it looks quite dandy on the Vita. The intro video alone is mesmerising with rich colours n deep blacks. Ive recently just finished Persona 3 Portable so the step-up is pretty big for me. The P4 anime I watched a couple of months back actually looks quite similar to the cutscenes in the game too which is suprising.
