Nagoshi was asked if Yakuza was coming to the PS Vita. The game producer replied affirmatively, once again acknowledging how the series has been born and bred on PlayStation hardware.

PS4 maybe. Sega aren't in a position to spend millions on a game for a machine that isn't selling. Besides, in the same article Nagoshi-san said he wouldn't want to make a Yakuza game on a portable that wasn't a proper Yakuza game. His exact quote is: "It's not possible. I'd do it if it were okay to have a Yakuza game without many people walking around the city… But it would be forcing it, no?" and although he's talking about 3DS the same can be said for Vita.

They are investing on the Wii U with 3 Sonic titles so I think they can do it.

I thought that was a weird quote seeing as they did two Yakuza games for the PSP.

Three Sonic games would still cost less than one Yakuza title. Plus Sonic is a best fit on Nintendo systems and sells best on them (almost half of Sonic Racing Transformed sales were on the Wii U, for example). Also, have you seen the Sonic: Lost World trailer? It has Nintendo all over it. They've been assisting Sonic Team with development by the look of it.

Man,5-7 millions of Vitas are enough for Yakuza to be sold like any other Yakuza. It can be sold even better considering some lack of hits on Vita. Never forget that people buy consoles for games. Look at Muramasa, for example, it sold better on Vita, than on Wii. Valkyrie Chronicles sold on PS3 much better than on PSP. If Yakuza will be good enough, it can even help to sell one or two millions of Vitas =). Only developers who make bad games for big money should afraid to create games for consoles with low install bases. it's not as easy as big install base = big sales, it's more like good game = good sales even on consoles with low installbases.

Sega wouldn't make the money back. Until they could the game wouldn't be made. It's that simple. I know people want a Yakuza game on Vita and if it starts improving sales wise it may happen but near future? No. It's more likely to happen on 3DS but it won't according to Nagoshi-san. Sorry.
