@Ralizah I’ve been playing Lost Judgment and the lack of substories is one of the only issues with it, they’re usually the highlight of any Yakuza game.
@nessisonett Yakuza sans substories sounds like a cake without the icing. But then, aren't the Judgment games a bit different in terms of their gameplay loop?
Currently Playing: Fields of Mistria (PC); Cookie Clicker (PC); Metaphor: ReFantazio (PC); Overboard! (PC)
@Ralizah Judgment 1 replaces most substories with detective cases, but does have smaller ones around the city that are closer to the Yakuza ones. Lost Judgment removes the vast majority of these and instead has different school clubs you get involved in, except you have to play them quite a bit to unlock the next one, removing a lot of the pick up at any time nature of the Yakuza substories. But yeah, the combat is good fun and feels very Yakuza but you also do a lot of other things like tailing, chases like in Yakuza 3,4,5, taking photos like a creep, finding clues etc. They’re great games but Lost relies on plot points from Yakuza 7 so I’d play it afterwards.
@Ralizah I guess it’s just the perils of having Kamurocho as the centre of the series, the city goes through changes so it can indirectly spoil you on earlier games.
Just finished The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero on Switch after 40 hours of playtime. Another fantastic Trails game! I really enjoyed the story and unlike the first Cold Steel, the plot became more engrossing towards the end. So as a standalone game, the overall experience was better. But I still didn't like the sprite-based graphics. Cold Steel has definitely spoiled me with regards to that. When you see actual 3D models and the characters' expressions, you become much more immersed. Granted, there were character portraits in Zero that helped with that. It's also unfortunate that Zero only had Japanese VOs as I played through all Cold Steel games in English. But I'm glad to have experienced the first half of the Crossbell arc now. Looking forward to playing the second game in the future! If it's anything like the Erebonia arc, the second game will be even better than the first.
@Zuljaras Hollow Knight is probably the best Metroidvania game I've played. There's just so much stuff to do and the combat is really satisfying. Congrats on beating it.
Beat wario ware get it together yesterday. Wasn’t a fan xD

First playthrough of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West done and mopped up all the collectibles… which are maybe the most annoying collectibles in all of gaming tbh (yes… worse that the inFamous shards and the Assassins Creed 2 feathers!). Just got a few scenario trophies to grab in chapter select before taking on the hard playthrough.
I liked it but not as much as a lot of other people seem to. It’s fine and a solid 8 for the era I reckon but maybe I went in with higher expectations due to the gushing I’ve heard over the years.
Just finished Far Cry Primal on PS5 after 20 hours of playtime and over 20 freezes. Absolute bummer that this game is so poorly optimised on PS5 because it's a very fun experience ruined by constant freezing. Even after I beat the final boss, it froze on me right before the last cut-scene. I don't know if the game works better on other systems, but I strongly advise against playing it on PS5.
Anyway, I had a blast playing this game and I'm glad that it didn't overstay its welcome because the progression system does come to a screeching halt after a certain point in the story. I think 20 hours for an open world game is a very good length. Also, as I've mentioned elsewhere, it was really nice playing this game as it was a breath of fresh air from previous Far Cry games. Although I am now looking forward to playing Far Cry 5 in the future. Hopefully that game doesn't freeze all the time on PS5 lol.
@LtSarge as a big Farcry fan I’m glad you enjoyed… and as someone yet to play Primal I appreciate your posts as I’ll remember to install it on ps4 and not ps5 👍
@colonelkilgore Yeah I honestly should've done that myself. I was actually considering playing Primal on my base PS4 before I put it away as the game doesn't have any PS4 Pro enhancements, so there are actually no benefits to play it on PS5. But yeah, what's done is done. At least I can confirm that the game is beatable on PS5, haha.
