Sony's own European VP Jim Ryan stated today... "Sony products used to be catered to the rich, or people who had a lot of money to invest in gaming. Although this strategy has worked, it has kept Sony from selling their products to the majority of buyers. Sony is finally starting to tap into this potential by offering devices like the PSP for a lower price".
This is awesome news for many who thought that the NGP would be out of their price range. I have been saying that NGP would be $300 USD (my opinion), but I'm now thinking that a $250 price match of 3DS is going to happen.
I'll pay up to $600 for one probably. I'd like to keep it under $400 if possible

@nathan... I don't think you will be paying over $300 for it. Why would they put it in the iPad range? Buying NGP for $600 vs iPad. Sorry, but I would buy an iPad before I bought NGP!

Because it's much more powerful than an iPad as well as contains more features. Regardless, comparing NGP to an iPad is like comparing a PS3/Xbox to a small useless laptop. Different genres of devices

@nathanuc1988 I doubt psp could survive at the same price as the Ipad without 3d without glasses aswell as stunning graphics and innovative control options.

It SHOULD be able to survive in the same price market as an Ipad but it won't because it isn't Apple. Only Apple has the potential to mark up their devices $300+ their worth and still sell them
As for 3D, if it can't be done correctly, it shouldn't be done on a handheld.
Looking at the final costs for the ipad2, it seems like it might be possible for Sony to sell the NGP around 300-400 (It costs about $300 to make ipad2). NGP's display will cost less but the Tegra 2 will push the price point up a bit more. This leads me to guess a tag of $350

I agree, the 3DS does 3D great, and their isn't a reason for anyone to compete with it. NGP doesn't need it at all. It works great for Nintendo, but I don't see it being ripped off by other companies anytime soon.

I love Apple and everything they do so no it is not a fad and in fact it is already so perfect that it will never change Still too pricey for now. Hoping prices come down soon.

That is an argument for another topic. Also I didn't put those 'ipad2 case' links in my post? Not sure how they ended up there; I don't condone those cases nor ipad2s.
BACK ON TOPIC. I recently read on the G.A.P (Sony Game Advisory Panel) that some are saying a few of it's features are said to be cut to keep prices lower. It can be taken with a grain of salt, but I'd be pretty disappointed if they cut the already said features just to lower costs.
All I want to know is when/if Monster Hunter NGP will be announced (or MH PS3 for that matter)

LOL how come at 250$ people complain its way too expensive but here said price is considered "affordable".
Because a lot of people were thinking the Vita was going to cost at least $300. Plus, at the time this thread was created, the 3DS was still $250, so it wasn't $80 more expensive than it's main competition, as you would've known if you read the first post
