@render yup 😂🤣😂🤣 absolutely pathetic… I made an absolute doozy of a comment (which I consider well within the realms of acceptance imho) in the Site Ideas thread in relation to it but it got removed… standard on here. X-thots can say whatever they like (as well as acting in a manner akin to the OxyContin sales force of the late 90’s) yet PlayStation users are censored for anything and everything.
@colonelkilgore damn, if only I'd have arrived earlier to witness your comment before it got removed 😂. I thought the conversation has all been above board and within acceptable parameters though so yeah weird... well I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Good job I didn't crack my "How do you know someone owns an Xbox?" joke 🤣
@velio84 You did respond to my comment the other day so perhaps you've been tarred with the same brush. I can only apologise, I didn't mean to drag you down with me 🤭
@velio84 probably because he’s tried his absolute hardest of hard-sells in regards to Gamepass (both pre & post Acti-bliz) and we’re all just left giggling at the cringe 🤣
@velio84 tbh mate, we’ve been nothing but courteous and patient given the outrageously sycophantic behaviour (& the timing). Guess his patience ran out 🤣 (which is incredibly ironic given his system of choice 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣).
@velio84@colonelkilgore I think we are supposed to be happy and joyful, for the community of gaming is all coming together as one. "All hail game pass, all hail Phil Spencer!" 😇
@colonelkilgore CoD will 'exist' on Playstation. Warzone and no doubt a multi-player (probably F2P) will exist. Whether Activision, who have basically run CoD into the ground, put ALL their eggs into that 'basket' could of 'sustained their model or had to go 'F2P' with 'regular' updates and the 'usual' MP F2P model (like Battle Pass) to keep CoD going as MS may do or kill the brand, we'll not know now BUT there was NO way Activision or the Studio's could or would continue the 'SAME' way they have. They have struggled to keep staff and recruit too so it was destined to collapse and 'Vanguard', even with its 'sales' success, is a 'mess'
Sony would still get any 'revenue' from sales of MTX/Battle Pass on their system - as well as retailer sales from all those 'Activision' games that will 'remain' on Sony Platforms. Want to play Crash n'sane - that's still going to available to buy, want to buy Vanguard, Black Ops etc, they will remain for sale on PS etc. If SONY are so reliant on 1 or 2 games (Fifa/CoD) - Franchises they have NO control over or say on, then that's their problem to resolve. Fifa have talked about pulling their 'exclusive licence' away from EA so that may impact that 'franchise' and sales, CoD has been in big decline for 'years' and people leaving both development of and player base away from CoD so CoD could of 'collapsed' at any point. Maybe Actvision themselves could just decide that CoD will be a F2P Multiplayer to compete with PUBG, Fortnite, Apex and all the other F2P first person shooter. People are getting 'fed' up with buying a 'new' CoD every year that's like the 'old' CoD with a new skin, splitting the 'fan base' between last years and this years version which then affects online matchmaking etc. It may well be 'selling' well on PS, because of 'Only on Playstation' extra content but that's also splitting the CoD community.
About the ONLY thing that can save CoD right now is to go F2P with seasons, maybe an 'annual' update alongside Warzone so they can jump between different Eras - WW1, WW2, Modern, Near Future. With F2P, EVERYONE gets the 'same' content at the same time and not split between last years and this years either.
Maybe '1' studio will become the 'home' of CoD online - maybe Raven for example. They will be tasked with maintaining and updating 'CoD online'. Adding 'new' content, new challenges, new cosmetics etc, maybe rotating annually between different Eras to keep things 'fresh' without splitting the community between Game Pass and Playstation, between last years release and this years release, between those that can afford to buy CoD every year and those that may have to wait or miss out - because its 'Free' to play, on EVERY platform (not just those with the latest expensive hardware) and exactly the 'same' for everyone regardless of their platform choice.
Sony kept Street Fighter -a franchise that's older than PS off of Xbox, keep FF off of Xbox, keep 'extra' content in Multi-platform games (Missions, characters, game modes, maps etc etc) off of EVERY platform except their own - that 'ONLY on Playstation' BS which is 'fine' with their OWN Studio's and their own IP's, but when its third party IP's made by 3rd Party Studios and Published by 3rd Party too or especially when the same multi-platform releases have 'content' blocked off of PC/Xbox just for 'ONLY on Playstation', that is fundamentally wrong.
Call of Duty will not be an 'Activision' IP - it will become an 'Xbox' IP, as will Crash (not that it was 'ever' owned by Sony anyway), Spyro, Doom, Wolfenstein, Fallout, Elder Scrolls etc. Infinity Ward, Treyarch etc will not be 'Activision' studio's and the games will not be 'published' by Activision either but Xbox published. Any 'new' game will be Xbox games and as ALL those IP's and legacy games will also be 'owned' by MS, they 'could' pull EVERY game from Sony's store to completely kill all revenue.
MS won't though and why I think CoD will have to go F2P to continue to support the 'CoD' online Community 'equally' across ALL platforms - not like it is today where only the 'few' who happened to buy PS's get extra modes, early maps etc.
Like I have said, its not about the 'few' butt hurt Sony fanboys that 'refuse' to play on any other device missing out as those 'lost' gamers can easily be replaced by all those 'gamers' who don't have 'great' hardware to play on, devices those games would never be released on. Starfield would never be ported to a mobile, weak PC/Laptop or last gen consoles but with Game Pass streaming, they can. So whilst those 5m PS sales maybe 'lost' now, they could be 'replaced' by 'millions' more on Mobiles, Tablets, Laptops, old PC's and last gen consoles. When Sony buys 'exclusivity' its 'ONLY' on PS which significantly impacts the reach - only the 10-12m who can afford or got lucky enough to buy a PS5 can play Ratchet & Clank and then you need a LOT of Money to buy games - £70 now per game - no wonder so few people have played 'Returnal' or R&C on PS5. A month after release and less than 600k had bought Returnal. Sea of Thieves, an Xbox Exclusive, has over 23m players, FH5 had 10m in the first week...
As much as you keep hating on MS or crying over this, the BIG difference between Sony and MS comes down to this.
If you want to play any Exclusive Sony game on day 1, you have to buy a SONY PS5 and pay the £70
If you want to play any Exclusive Xbox game on day 1, you can play ANYWHERE Game Pass exists and from as little as '£1'.
Basically EVERY gamer has a Mobile phone and/or access to a PC so can subscribe to Game Pass for their first month for a £1, use their Nintendo/Playstation controller and play. Don't 'need' a Microsoft Xbox - although a Series S can be purchased for £21 a month over 2yrs with 2yrs of Game Pass Ultimate (includes Gold, EA Play, Game Pass for mobile/PC and streaming) so you get a console and access to at least 2yrs of games for just £21 so great value. You don't 'need' any Microsoft branded product to play Xbox Exclusives - your Android powered Samsung mobile and Sony Dualsense controller can still play Starfield!!
This is about not having that '1 box' as the 'ONLY' place to play but giving the consumer the choice of where they want to play. IF MS had their way, Game Pass would be on PS so that PS gamers can Subscribe and play those games on their 'preferred' platform...
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@BAMozzy given your last two posts I’d imagine your fingers must be aching… why don’t you pick up the pad and work your thumbs for a bit… put your frankly sterling efforts in to this Gamepass thing you love so dearly and pop some cheevos.
If one good thing has come from the whole ActiBlizz thing, Raven Software have now unionised. It’s kinda baffling to me that there are so few unionised studios, it’s a basic right in the UK.
@colonelkilgore@render not sure if I'm contributing late to this, but I've still got my One X and I've subbed to Game Pass to play Halo (I really like the franchise).
I've looked through the games available, and to me it's just a whole lot of filler. There's a few good gems that come on there but overall I think it gets praise purely for the value due to the amount on there.
And like another poster said (can't think who said this), but they've already got a backlog from previous purchases, so game pass kind of becomes redundant.
Whilst it's good value, I don't believe it's the standard the industry must follow. I really do prefer Sony's approach.
@NedStarksGhost yeah it’s different strokes for different folks etc. I mean it is clearly working for some people (judging by the no commission sales pitches around here) but I’ve got (like sitting on my shelf ‘got’) so many games that I want to play… that currently there’s just no reason to subscribe to a service to play games that I don’t wanna play.
In the long run (due to the recent and future moves) I (& probably everyone else) will end up on it as it’ll be the only game in town… I just hope that by the time that happens that MS (or some devs out there) will try and make the games that I like.
Not sure what happened here… I can still see everyone’s posts and I don’t see anything that would warrant blocking anyone?
Btw, back on topic: I absolutely see the value of gamepass but owning both consoles seems like overkill to me at the moment (given my available time and space) and if I have to choose between all the games on gamepass and the few games exclusive to PlayStation even if they’re €80 - I’m gonna go with the latter every time because they’re the games I like most.
I’m also not entirely optimistic about how gamepass changes how games are developed in the long run but for now I’m not gonna say it’s definitely bad, because I don’t know - just gonna have to wait and see, it’s not going anywhere now.
@Voltan try the ideas for site thread… I can’t actually see what @Ltsarge actually said but I have a good idea (I still know people who ain’t blocked 😉) and as I mentioned earlier (which I stand by) it’s absolutely pathetic.
@colonelkilgore It seems like pretty much everything outside of him asking about the ignore feature and such has been removed, so some of us will never truly know what happened. Maybe it's for the best though.
