so it looks like there is no discussion thread on this so I'll start the conversation!
PERSONA6...
we know its coming some day, the question is... what will it be like? well this thread is discuss what we want/expect for the next main line game in the series, and we can also discuss our ideas/predictions about it.
Im not gonna really attach rules but it'd be nice to not start any fights of course lol and jokes are all fun and cool guys but try to stay on topic lol
so here's the rundown on this game if I remember correctly
-Brand new director(s): we know that Katsura Hashino is not returning to direct, as he is currently working on Project: Re:Fantasy, he's said that his successors have already been chosen.... but who are those successors? could it be the guy who's directing PERSONA 5: Royal? (his name is Daiki Itoh btw).
-As far as we know, Shoji Meguro(Music Composer Since the first PERSONA), and Shigenori Soejima(Character Designer/Art Director since PERSONA 3) are returning: now I haven't heard if they're getting replaced or returning so I'm gonna assume they're returning for the next game.
-And lastly I think we can assume it's going to be a PS5 game.... cause you know, end of console gen?
@Ryall Very humorous! but likely not possible, as I see P6 coming out definitely before the end of the new decade.
In fact if I had to make a prediction, I'd say that we'll probably see it after SMT 5 releases, and assuming that game isn't coming out anytime soon, I'd say we'll see an announcement for P6 in 2021 and the game itself release in 2022/2023.
Improved Social Links: PERSONA 5's Social Links weren't bad per say but i think i'm not the only person who thinks they weren't as developed or interesting beyond the major waifus (keep in my i'm coming from a position of someone who has yet to play Royal as of this writing) definitely keep the benefits system that P5 introduced as it was awesome and helpful.
Break the father figure trope: dont get me wrong, I love Dojima and Sojiro, but personally I'm tired of the father figure trope in fiction, when P-Studio talked about having Sae Nijima (or the prosecutor as she was known as at that point in development) being the protag's caretaker, I felt this was a big missed opportunity, but I understand why they changed it; so for P6 I'd love to see the team try something new and have your caretaker be a female/mother figure; I just think it's be interesting and plus, who can say no to MILF energy? (hope i don't get in trouble for saying that lol) but if they didn't do something like this I wouldn't be bothered.
@GingerSilent Persona 3 was a boarding school and they were in a dorm. So the people The protagonist were thrown together with weren’t necessarily his friends. Some kind of dormitory or student housing might be good next time.
It would be nice to properly tie together the other games. 3,4 and 5 are in the same universe for definite so it would be cool if 6 had more returning faces, possibly as teachers by this point. The 3 and 4 cast would be in their late 20s now so if they turned up as mentor figures and the Phantom Thieves were still active, they could tie it into one big story.
Last time it took so long because they developed an entirely new engine and because they made Catherine first. If they’re working on it now and reusing persona five engine and I could definitely see it coming in 2022.
If they are developing something else first or building an entirely new engine from scratch again who knows.
@Ryall that is true! I doubt they’ll be switching engines for P6 and a possible Persona 3 Remake, I mean unless they can get really comfortable with Unreal Engine with SMT 5, it would be cool to see a Persona game in Unreal!
As long as it's of a similar quality to P5, then I'll be eager for this game if and when it arrives. If the gameplay is as good as P5, and the story is new and fresh, it'll be an excellent game.
— I would like to see P-studio attempt doing a persona game with a cast of college students like in PERSONA 2: Eternal Punishment, as someone who’s currently in his second semester of college, the idea of a JRPG centered around people may age is starting to be appealing lol though if not I think it would be interesting to see a persona game in which the protagonist is sent to some kind of military school/ boarding school, again tying into the whole dorm idea @nessionett brought up.
—keep palaces in the game: Unpopular opinion: I don’t hate the dungeons in P3 and P4 but compared to P5 they aren’t anywhere near as entertaining to play. Like I said I don’t hate P3/P4’s dungeons but P5’s are priming with stellar design, and mechanics that I find personally fun to play, which is why I want P-studio to keep Palaces in the next game and build upon the ideas brought to the table with P5
From what I recall @nessisonett because the series has a whole lot of alternate universes and timey wimey nonsense going on with the Amala network it's something along the lines of all the devil summoner games & Shin Megami Tensei If are part of one universe... With one of If's endings then causing/leading into Revelations Persona.
RP or P1 obviously leads into Persona 2 Innocent Sin but that then ends up with an another alt universe with Persona 2 EP, P3, P4, P5 and so on being all connected to one another (With Persona 2's cast having cameo's in P3 via the show on the dorm tv "Who's Who" I think if I remember right)
... It's even more confusing then the Zelda timeline from what I understand lol 😂
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy Yeah, I left out the first two Persona games because they’re so confusing chronologically! Characters from 3 appear in P4AU, canonically. Then, Rise is mentioned in Persona 5 and appears as a 20 year old on a poster. It’s logically a minefield but I wouldn’t say it’s too presumptuous to assume that characters from 3 are thus in the same universe as 5. I just reckon it would be interesting to see fellow Metaverse/TV World/Dark Hour survivors interact with a brand new cast, in the way Morgana and the older SEES members ease the protagonist into the world of other games. Plus, I’d like a female character option, it was a big bonus to P3P.
Ha ha Yeah as far as I know @nessisonett P2 EP, P3, P4, & P5 are all part of the same timeline and exist in the same universe (Timey wimey nonsense with the persona spinoffs and Innocent Sin aside)
I quite like the mentor idea, even if it's just one character from one of the previous games... It allows for some fanservice, not to mention maybe an actual older cast member in the party alongside the new set of protagonists that are no doubt gonna be teenagers once again...
The biggest thing I wouldn't mind for Persona 6 to do is to have another Strega like villain team... but y'know done right (P3's October event is probably still one of my favourite moments in the persona series with it leading to some of the better character development in the game... Hell P3's cast are probably the most interesting and well written cast to me)
I guess not another mystical god pulled out of nowhere who turns out to be the true villain all along would be good too... It sucked in P4 and while it was handled better in P5... it was still fairly lame.

"You don't have to save the world to find meaning in life. Sometimes all you need is something simple, like someone to take care of"
actually I’ve had a military themed persona on my brain for a while
What I mean is a game that takes place during a time of war, the protagonist gets sent to a military academy, and he and the cast somehow discovers the metaverse but in this game it could be called the war zone, or battlefield and that games equivilant to palaces could be something like strongholds or whatever
