Review NHL 25 (PS5) - Another Season Mired in Mediocrity
Puck me up
In life, there are three certainties: death, taxes, and underwhelming, incremental upgrades to annual sports titles. Enter NHL 25, EA Vancouver’s latest iteration of the greatest game on ice. While EA’s hockey titles tend to fare better year-to-year than Madden or EA Sports FC, that doesn’t mean the title is always able to escape...

About The Game
EA SPORTS™ NHL® 25 is powered by ICE-Q, a new gameplay intelligence system that gives you the time and space to control every inch of the ice.
Next-Gen Vision Control allows you to walk the blue line, square up to the puck carrier, stay locked on goal, and much more. Empowered AI completely overhauls Chel’s CPU player system, helping them execute authentic plays with a refreshed playbook that improves powerplays and opens up the ice for better overall positioning and offensive opportunities. Reactive Actions utilizes a series of new animations to make skaters more responsive in critical situations, increasing their urgency, collision avoidance, and reliability. ICE-Q is true hockey intelligence.
Plus, the addition of a revamped Franchise Mode experience, a brand-new WOC Live Events structure, HUT Wildcard Mode, and a simplified, single-path XP progression shared across HUT kicks Chel’s game modes up a notch. Upping the ante even further on presentation, the all-new Grudge Match System keeps track of the competitive history between teams across all major online and offline modes and enhances series with special X-Factors that are earned in previous matchups against rival teams. Finally, the introduction of Sapien Technology to the franchise takes character likenesses to a whole other level. Like the Hughes Brothers, NHL 25 is next-gen hockey.

Literally the worst NHL they've made so far. Why they didn't stick with NHL 24, but spend a year programming out all the bugs that one had?
They've opted for working from the ground up and producing a worse product, with even more bugs than the last game. Truly awful game that will infuriate and frustrate way more than it will excite when you win.
It even takes most of the joy out of winning as you can tell the goals you are scoring are the same 3 prescripted AI led garbage goals that gets scored against you when it's your turn to lose. most games end 4-1, for or against, weird that hey?
2/10, because it's the ONLY NHL game available, if there's was an alternative, this would get 1/10.
PLEASE will another company start making an NHL game so we can all stop buying this rubbish that EA keeps defecating out.
BE A PRO mode has still its awful intro used for years. EA should lay this series down as NCAA Collage Football and rebuild it from scratch. Even the arena sounds are still the same.. the crowd noise... turn off the commentary and check NHL 22, 23, 24. Same noise. Doesn't matter which arena you choose.
