Because you need to fight Carlito on multiple occasions throughout the game, we have broken up this page into each of the encounters, allowing you to find which one you're currently stuck on with ease. Use the table of contents in order to select the boss fight you're on. Make sure to take a picture of Carlito in a fight at some point to work towards a Trophy.

Food Court — Case 1-2: Backup for Brad

Having come to Brad's aid in the Food Court, let the cutscene play out and cross from his position into the Food Court underneath the welcome sign to the left. Carlito is equipped with a submachine gun and throws down grenades onto the ground from the level above, which you'll want to avoid as you cross. Due to his raised position, you'll need to get up there yourself. Next to a sign reading Great Big Burger, which is just ahead of you once you're in the Food Court, climb on the stack of boxes next to it and then over the railing.

This will bring you up to the same balcony Carlito is using as a vantage point. You can now use the corner next to you for cover and pop out and fire shots at Carlito with either the Handgun or the Submachine Gun — if you grabbed it from the hidden place in the Entrance Plaza. It shouldn't take many shots to beat Carlito in this first encounter, but make sure you're well-stocked on healing items incase he lands some bullets of his own.

Alternatively, you could rush him and attack at close-range with melee weapons, but this is a much more dangerous strategy than fighting him at a distance. Make sure you have powerful weapons — such as the Katana from Colombian Roastmasters — and a lot of health items if you wish to do things up close and personal.

Entrance Plaza — Case 2-2: Rescue the Professor

How you handle this second encounter with Carlito will largely depend on what weapons you've brought to the fight. You can get up close and personal with the Mini Chainsaws dropped by Adam the Clown, or bring a gun yourself like the Submachine Gun from Paradise Plaza. Either way, start the fight by climbing the escalator behind you to reach the same floor Carlito is on. He's equipped with a sniper rifle, so his shots will come from far range, and are accurate and deadly.

Brad will run up the stairs too on the right-hand side; we suggest heading left so he draws the attention of Carlito. This will allow you to get in position, either with a gun or melee weapon, and use the stone pillars for cover. If one of his shots hits you, you'll lose two blocks of health. There's a very reliable timed window between each of his sniper shots, so learn it and use it to transition between the stone pillars and get closer to him.
