Demon's Souls Leechmonger.PNG

The Demon bosses in Demon's Souls are the hardest and most stressful part of the whole affair. Filling up on souls in the stage prior only to have to prove yourself against a giant enemy with a massive health bar to match is almost always a daunting task.

But don't worry, in this Demon's Souls guide we'll have you covered by breaking down each of the game's bosses and the best way to approach them. Take a deep breath, have a look at the tips below, and try your best to enjoy yourself and the challenge that the bosses pose.

How to Beat the Leechmonger in Demon's Souls

Compared to the stressful slog that is the Valley of Defilement, the Leechmonger boss at the end of it all isn't too bad by comparison! Its leachy body is pretty darn disgusting and it has an especially nasty life-leeching attack in its repertoire, but all that won't matter much if you kill it with fire.

That is, given you don't fall off the wooden platforms that lead down to this boss first. Be very careful while walking along the descending decks. Don't worry too much about the Leechmonger below, just keep your shield up as you go and it shouldn't be able to do much damage to you.

Despite the Leechmonger's crippling weakness to fire, do still try to keep a keen eye on your health bar. You can end up covered in leaches that will slowly sap away your HP until either they fall off or you're out of health to leech. If your HP bar drops below the halfway mark, back up and swallow a healing grass or two.

Bring Some Fire With You

That's right, the Leechmonger is yet another Demon's Souls boss that's weak to fire! Buff your weapon with a Pine Resin, chuck some Firebombs, or make use of your favorite fire spell – the Leechmonger shouldn't stand much of a chance with the hefty damage you'll be dealing with any fire-related attack.

Dodge Beneath Its Blows

Leechmonger only has one large appendage that it uses to try and swipe you away once you get up close. This large and cumbersome arm is pretty easy to dodge away from and, even if you misjudge your dodge rolls a time or two, its melee attacks shouldn't deal enough damage to kill you right away.

Don't be afraid to back off and put some distance between you two for some healing or a reapplication of Pine Resin if necessary. It shouldn't take more than a few attack efforts to put this mass of leeches down if you've got some fire on your side.

Leechmonger Rewards

Liberating the Leechmonger will get you:

  • 8,249 souls
  • Writhing Demon Soul
