Putrescent Knight Location: How to Find It

You'll find the Putrsescent Knight inside the Stone Coffin Fissure, which is on the most southwestern point of the entire Realm of Shadow. It's part of the Cerulean Coast, so refer to our how to reach Cerulean Coast guide for more information. Once you're inside the Stone Coffin Fissure, the path to the boss is pretty linear. At the Site of Grace at Fissure Depths, there'll be a gigantic hole in front of you after climbing the staircase. Drop down into the chasm and you'll land at the bottom and face the Putrescent Knight.

Putrescent Knight: Boss Fight Strategy

The Putrescent Knight comes in two parts: a large gooey monstrosity that uses a big cleaver to swipe at you, and its horse. The two can detach from another, meaning you'll need to avoid attacks from both of them. The main boss will swipe at the ground around it with the cleaver, and it's also able to throw it at long range like a boomerang. Most of these moves are telegraphed and can be pretty easily dodged once you learn their timings. The problem becomes when the two enemies are detached. The horse will lunge at you — regularly from off-screen — since you'll be locked onto the bodily part.

We recommend spawning your Mimic Tear Ashes so you have some support of your own, and gang up on the main boss. Bleed damage works exceptionally well in this encounter, and takes off huge chunks of the boss' HP if you can get its Bleed meter to completely fill.

One big attack you need to watch out for is when it grows in size and starts shooting blue flames across the arena. Making contact with the flames deals very heavy damage and fills your Frostbite meter. It shoots off three rounds of flames, so try and survive the attack the best you can through blocking and rolling.
