How Do You Complete Caelid Catacombs in Elden Ring?
On this page, we're going to reveal how to complete Caelid Catacombs. We'll include the location, a walkthrough, and any additional information, like item drops.
Caelid Catacombs Location: How to Find It
The doors to the Caelid Catacombs are just southeast of the Cathedral of Dragon Communion, but they’re at a much lower elevation. To get down, take the road north of the cathedral toward the southeast and around to the cliffside where you’ll find the catacombs entrance at the end of the path. If you encounter a Teardrop Scarab that drops a Somber Smithing Stone, you’re headed the right way.
Caelid Catacombs: Walkthrough
The Caelid Catacombs are full of scarlet rot pools and flowers, so ensure you’ve got a stash of Preserving Boluses on hand to deal with the rot buildup lest you be left with a health bar that continues to tick down at a startling pace. When you’ve got some in your inventory, start these catacombs by heading down the first set of stairs, taking the initial right turn, grabbing a Grave Violet, and surveying the passage ahead. There are three scarlet rot flowers here in addition to the scarlet rot water through the center. Try to stay along the edges as best you can to keep the scarlet rot at bay. Take out the three flowers and grab the Grave Glovewort [4] along the left wall and some Root Resin beside the next entryway before moving onward.
The next hallway has a sword-wielding skeleton hiding around the next bend waiting to ambush you. Look out for the skeleton's initial jump attack, defeat it, grab the Grave Glovewort [3] in the corner, and continue forward. Head down the set of stairs, and emerge into an opening. There’s a bow-and-arrow skeleton on the ledge here that should be taken out prior to jumping into the scarlet rot water below. Take heed not to roll in the water here or you’ll be stuck with poison rot buildup until you clean yourself up with some Soap.
There’s a large scarlet rot flower in the water here that poses a massive threat. Its magic attack can dish out some heavy damage and it has so much health that you’ll likely be stricken with scarlet rot before you finish the flower off. When you’re feeling ready, head down and start whacking away at the large floral foe. Once you’ve taken it out, heal up and get rid of the scarlet rot if you need to, and head to the opening next to the stairs at the start of this chamber. There’s an Illusory Wall in the southern corner hiding a couple Grave Gloveworts [5] and the Miranda Sprout Ashes.
With that taken care of, grab the Grave Gloveworts [3] and Grave Glovewort [4] in this area before moving into the next passageway and taking another set of stairs down. There’s a Grave Glovewort [4] just to the left, and another in the back right corner. If you do grab them, look out for nearby spore patches that spit out scarlet rot pollen at you. Head into the area with the iron doors to catch your breath and relieve the rot buildup.
While we’ve reached the boss door room that holds some Root Resin, we haven’t found the lever to open yet. Fear not as it’s not far away. Face the opposite direction of the iron doors, back into the room with the scarlet rot water, to come face-to-face with a suspicious-looking wall. Give it a thwack to reveal the lever we’re looking for. Pull the lever and turn back around to find the iron doors are now open. Head through them and down the stairs to find the mist gate that leads to the Cemetery Shade.
