Castle Ensis is a main area in the northeast of the Gravesite Plain in Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, and hosts a Boss Fight against Rellana, Twin Moon Knight. In this Elden Ring guide, we are going to reveal how to complete Castle Ensis via a step-by-step walkthrough.
How Do You Complete Castle Ensis in Elden Ring?
On this page, we're going to reveal how to complete Castle Ensis. We'll include the location, a step-by-step walkthrough, and any additional information, like item drops.
Castle Ensis Location: How to Find It
You'll discover Castle Ensis on the other side of the Ellac Greatbridge from the starting area in the Gravesite Plain. Head northeast through the large enemy encampment and you'll find a Site of Grace called Castle Front, with Castle Ensis behind it.
Castle Ensis: Walkthrough
Once you've rested at the Site of Grace titled Castle Front, cross the bridge to be immediately greeted by a giant gripping a suitably huge Greatsword. If you take it down, you'll earn a decent amount of Runes, a Somber Smithing Stone [9], and some Royal Magic Grease. From here, enter the little room to your right and grab the Shadow Realm Rune [4] in the corner, then head back outside and go up the staircase.
At the top, swing left and climb the stairs to the top of the castle turret, then go up the ladder to find a treasure chest with Milady inside. Drop back down and enter the cave opposite, passing through its linear network to reach the next part of Castle Ensis. A few common soldiers will be waiting by a little camp to your right, and a heavily armoured foe will come down the hill to match you. Defeat him, then continue up the hill and interact with one of Miquella's Crosses, rest at the Site of Grace and pick up the Scadutree Fragment and a Message from Leda.
Upgrade your Scadutree Blessing if you're able to, then continue on through Castle Ensis by dropping down the cliff opposite where the enemy is. You'll fall into a small cave where three dogs ambush you; they can easily overwhelm you if you're not careful. Press on via the only path available to you, first hugging the cliff face to the left to find some Starlight Shards on the rooftop. Return to the path and now carefully jump across the rocks sticking out of the waterfall. Underneath the second waterfall up ahead is some Drawstring Royal Magic Grease, then in the cave behind it is Knot Resin. To progress, use the ladder in this area on the left. Kill the enemies inside, then cross over to the next room use the Push lever action to open the gate back to the Site of Grace, creating a shortcut for you.
Return to the staircase once you're rested and cross the bridge, slaughtering the soldiers as you go. Follow the path along the cliff edge, and you'll happen upon a series of magic users to your right. Kill them all, using the ladder in the back to reach the ones on the cliff above. Once they're all dead, go up the staircase for the next building, where you'll encounter Moonrithyll, Carian Knight. This named enemy hits like an absolute train with their Greatsword, so you'll need to play this fight carefully and as safely as possible. The best part? He can also heal himself! Only once, mind, but you'll essentially need to play this encounter like a Boss Fight — he can prove that difficult. Once he's dead, you'll be rewarded with Moonrithyll's Knight Sword.
Inside the building he was guarding, grab Rellana's Cameo from the altar, then exit via the side corridor to the right, picking up the Shadow Realm Rune [2] off the corpse along the way. Back outside, push open the gates to get onto the castle battlements, where more standard soldiers await your presence. Dispose of them in any way you see fit. This path outside is linear, so simply follow it along until you reach a heavily armoured soldier facing you opposite. Behind you will be a treasure chest containing an Imbued Sword Key, then you can go to battle with the enemy waiting for you. Please note the enemy can heal itself.
Once it's down, continue on and take the elevator up to find a Site of Grace in the Castle-Lord's Chamber. On the balcony outside is a Somber Smithing Stone [4], then up the stairs is a fog door leading to Rellana, Twin Moon Knight.
