Darklight Catacombs Location: How to Find It

The Darklight Catacombs form the final part of the passage through to the Abyssal Woods, and they're found downstream from the Ruins of Unte. This isn't a simple location to find, so refer to our how to reach Abyssal Woods guide for more information.

Darklight Catacombs: Walkthrough

Once you've pushed open the double doors at the entrance and taken the elevator down to the Site of Grace, the first thing that'll strike you is how the Darklight Catacombs lives up to its name: it's very dark. Equip your Lantern to your Quick Items and have it lit so you can see better. The path at first is completely linear so it's impossible to get lost. When you come to a small staircase, turn around to spot a hidden path going underneath where you came. It leads to a lever you can pull, which turns on the lights ahead of you.

It's not possible to get there just yet, so return to the main path through and follow it around and down two ladders. Watch out for the magic caster at the bottom, and follow the path to another elevator heading down. At the bottom, cross over to the other side of the chasm and straight ahead of you will be a few pillars. On the back side of one of them is a ladder leading up to the room with a lever inside; pulling it brings the lights on this area too.

Once they're lit, you can simply drop off the balcony to the staircase below. Continue down the two ladders you find, then head even further down via another elevator. In the next room, a gigantic imp-like enemy will shoot flaming boulders at you. A lever is located in the room off to the left, bringing light back to this area, then you can head behind the huge imp to find a treasure chest containing the Bigmouth Imp Ashes. Just beware that the imp has now lowered itself to your level and fires boulders directly at you, making your task a lot more difficult. Once you've claimed the Spirit Summon, there's a ladder on the left-hand wall you can use to escape.
