How do you reach Mohgwyn Palace in Elden Ring? If you are looking to beat Mohg, Lord of Blood and start the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, you'll need to find a way to reach Mohgwyn Palace. There are two paths you can follow, and both will be detailed on this page. As part of our Elden Ring guide, we're going to reveal how to reach Mohgwyn Palace.
How Do You Reach Mohgwyn Palace in Elden Ring?
There are two ways to reach Mohgwyn Palace. One is tied to completing a specific questline from an NPC and the other requires some exploration of a late-game area. Both options leading to Mohgwyn Palace will be detailed below, with the steps you need to take along the way explained. By the end of both paths, you'll have access to Mohgwyn Palace and be close to starting the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Complete White-Faced Varré's Quest
The first way you can reach Mohgwyn Palace is by completing the Quest given to you by White-Faced Varré. This is the NPC you encounter as soon as you leave the underground tutorial area in Limgrave and activate the Site of Grace called The First Step. They're standing just behind it. Talk to him and you'll be asked to kill Godrick the Grafted, who you'll find at the end of Stormveil Castle. The quest continues at the Roundtable Hold, and you shall find a complete step-by-step walkthrough to what comes next in our How to Complete White-Faced Varré's Quest guide.
Use a Portal in the Consecrated Snowfields
The other way you can reach Mohgwyn Palace is through exploring the Consecrated Snowfields, which you'll discover after taking the Grand Lift of Rold after Leyndell, Royal Capital. To activate the Grand Lift of Rold, you'll first need to find two pieces of the Haligtree Secret Medallion. Please click the following links to find the Left piece and the Right piece.
Once you have them, return to the Grand Lift of Rold and then select Switch Action with the D-Pad. You'll then be given the option to Hoist secret medallion. Do so and the Grand Lift of Rold will take you down to the Hidden Path to the Haligtree, which leads out to the Consecrated Snowfield.
From the Site of Grace called Consecrated Snowfield, head north until you're able to drop down into the valley below and head west. You should eventually find the Yelough Annix Ruins. From here, head north through the trees, always aiming for the edge of the map to the west. When you come to the edge of the cliff with giant tree branches hanging off the side, look down and you should spot a teleporter below. Another way to tell you're in the right place is if you notice a bear scratching at a tree ahead of you. The path to the teleporter is immediately left of its location.
Get onto the path with the teleporter and interact with it to travel to Mohgwyn Palace. You must fight your way through this area to the temple to the top, where you'll challenge Mohg, Lord of Blood. Having beaten him, you'll be able to start the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in this location as long as you've also taken down Starscourge Radahn.

If anyone needs a hand, I started a new character for the DLC who I will specifically make good at killing Mohg to help others reach the DLC. Love this game and am very excited for the Shadow of the Erdtree.
