Trial and Error is a Side Quest in Final Fantasy 16, located in The Hideaway. It first appears during the Main Quest named Back to Their Origin. As part of our Final Fantasy 16 guide, we're going to explain everything you need to know about Trial and Error.

Trial and Error: Walkthrough
Trial and Error begins when you speak to Nazaire in The Hideaway. He will ask you to oversee a new recruit's capabilities.
Fast travel to Northreach. When you get there, speak to Nazaire. After that, follow Ember towards the outpost called Eastwatch. As you approach the location, watch the cutscene. Fight the tot aevis.
Tot Aevis Spoils:
- 1x Dragon Talon
- 600 EXP
- 100 Ability Points
- 400 gil
Next, watch the cutscene, then return to Northreach and talk to Nazaire. After the cutscene, fast travel back to the Hideaway and talk to Nazaire once again. You'll need to make the call as to whether Ember passed or failed his trial, but both lead to the same resolution. Quest done!

- Meet Nazaire near Northreach
- Make for Eastwatch
- Slay the tot aevis
- Return to Nazaire in Northreach
- Return to the hideaway and speak with Nazaire
