God of War Ragnarok Guide: Tips and Tricks for Beginners
In this final section of our God of War Ragnarok guide, we'll include some tips and tricks for beginners, including things we wish we'd known before we started playing. Below you'll find a list of simple strategies and techniques that can help you get the most out of Santa Monica Studio's latest.
Learn When to Defend and When to Dodge
When enemies attack in God of War Ragnarok, coloured circles will appear on the screen to illustrate what you need to do. It's imperative you pay attention to these. A yellow circle means that a move can be parried, so tap the L1 button just at the last moment before the hit lands to stagger your foe. Meanwhile, a red circle means that the strike will break your guard, so dodge roll out of its way.
Health Bars Represent the Strength of Your Enemy
If you're repeatedly coming up against enemies that are kicking your ass, then carefully consider the colour of your aggressor's energy bar. If they have a red HP meter, then that means they're at a higher level than you currently are. While you may have some success against these foes, it may be a good idea to come back once you've upgraded your equipment. This is especially true with enemies who have skulls on their life bar.
Don't Be Afraid to Move On
While it can be tempting to try to complete everything God of War Ragnarok shows you in one fell swoop, the reality is that its Nine Realms are designed to be returned to. This means that you won't be able to reach all of the game's secrets right away, as you may need an additional piece of equipment or a special ability. Spend as much time as you like exploring, but don't be afraid to move on when you're ready — after all, you can always comes back later.
Speak with Brok and Sindri Regularly
If you're passing one of the Huldra Brothers' many workshops on your journey, then don't be afraid to drop-in and say hello. While it's not always true, a lot of the time they'll have new equipment available for you, so it's always a good idea to quickly check in and see what they have on offer. Make sure you're upgrading your equipment when you can, too; there are enough resources in the game to upgrade everything, so there's really no point in hoarding.
And that concludes our God of War Ragnarok guide, we sincerely hope you've found this walkthrough and 100% completion resource useful! If you have any further suggestions for content we could add to our wiki, let us know in the comments section below.

@get2sammyb Hi Sammy, I will use the guide thank you but not initially more for my platinum hence is anything missable? Appreciate it wasn't in the first one so assume not here too!
@Mostik Nothing missable!
This guide will come in handy for sure! Altough i don't want to spoil myself so i´m just gonna use it for the collectibles later on.
But can you tell me how many side quests thee are? It´s probably in the article but again don't want to risk it lol.
@get2sammyb Great news thank you 👍
@jdv95 We don't have them all on the site yet, but a healthy amount.
@get2sammyb ok tnx!
also is this the full story missions list?
because i have been reading conflicting reports. some say it's 18 missions,this list counts 14 and other sites say 11 or 12 lol.
@jdv95 Still a work in progress so there are more chapters to add.
Love the game but stuck with a game breaking bug as seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5ljYWOM3LM
Not enjoying this game at all just now. Last 5 hours have been torture. Im trying to track one of the umpteen side quests listed ... I cant ... Zero option to track them. Im in the menus looking over SideQuests .... each time a prompt comes up, "Push square to go to map" ... im pushing square over and over ... its NOT GOING TO MAP .... ever!!!. It finally lets me push triangle to track ONE (out of 8) side quest ... I track the quest and go through the portal and the game decides I want to continue with the main story and not follow the sidequest??? I just refinished and 100% GoW 2018 before I started Ragnarok and had ZERO problems doing quests or navigating menus. This is making me seethe!!!
Thanks!
I rarely aim for 100% in a game. I just play the story, what trophies or collectables I get along the way are what I get.
But I so do not want this game to end, I'll be clearing everything it has to offer before moving on
Is there anything that I should NOT sell to Brock and Sindri? I'm about 2/3 of the way through The Path and I have yet to sell anything.
