If you want to know How to Make Money Fast in GTA Online, then look no further than the Cayo Perico Heist. This multi-threaded mission is completely playable solo, and can be completed in its entirety in under an hour once you know what you're doing. In this guide, we're going to show you how to make millions with the Cayo Perico Heist. Please note that this page does assume you've already beaten the Cayo Perico Heist once and have some familiarity with the content. If you're yet to play it, then you can find out How to Start the Cayo Perico Heist through the link.
Gathering Intel
Each time you play the Cayo Perico Heist, you'll need to steal a Velum somewhere in Los Santos in order to fly to the island and Gather Intel. As a minimum, you'll need to make your way to the Communications Tower undercover and hack into the Signal Box. This will give you access to the Sightseer app so you can hack into Cayo Perico's security cameras and see what's being stashed in the basement.
There are 6 Mission Targets in total, each with different payouts. They are listed below, although do keep in mind that the Madrazo Files will only be available on your first playthrough while the Panther Statue will only be available during events.
Mission Target | Setup Cost | Potential Reward on Normal | Potential Reward on Hard |
---|---|---|---|
Madrazo Files (First Attempt Only) | - | GTA$1,100,000 | - |
Panther Statue (Event Only) | GTA$25,000 | GTA$1,900,000 | GTA$2,090,000 |
Sinsimoto Tequila | GTA$25,000 | GTA$900,000 | GTA$990,000 |
Ruby Necklace | GTA$25,000 | GTA$1,000,000 | GTA$1,100,000 |
Bearer Bonds | GTA$25,000 | GTA$1,100,000 | GTA$1,210,000 |
Pink Diamond | GTA$25,000 | GTA$1,300,000 | GTA$2,090,000 |
With regards to Gathering Intel, you can spend as much or as little time scouting Cayo Perico as you want to, and there are potentially dozens of different ways you can approach the mission. For the purposes of this guide, though, you're going to need to ensure you've scouted one key Infiltration Point: the Drainage Tunnel.
You'll find the Drainage Tunnel at the south of Cayo Perico, beneath the compound. You'll need to dive beneath the water and Pavel will make a comment about it. There's a boat in this area which you can conveniently climb aboard in order to drive back to one of the docks.
If you haven't done it already, you should also take a moment to photograph the Main Dock, which will give you a good Escape Point near to the compound. There are a couple of Secondary Targets in the Main Dock area, so you may want to take a moment to photograph these as well, but it's not required. If you're going for the Elite Challenge, however — which will maximise your income from the Cayo Perico Heist — then it's worth taking the time to scope this out as you'll need to fill your Loot Bag as one of the requirements.
Prep Work
You're going to need to complete at least five Prep missions once you return to Los Santos. These will take you anywhere from 5-15 minutes to complete, but we'd recommend you use Fast Travel with the Kosatka to speed up the process and also invest in the Sparrow if you can afford it. These are the Prep missions we suggest you complete:
- Approach Vehicle: Kosatka - Steal a Sonar Deflector from a Merryweather submarine
- * Equipment: Safe Code - Only if the Mission Target is in a safe
- * Equipment: Plasma Cutter - Only if the Mission Target is in a glass case
- Equipment: Fingerprint Cloner - Stolen from El Rubio's head of security
- Equipment: Cutting Torch - Stolen from a guarded construction site
- Weapon Loadout: Stolen from an armed gang's office or by tailing a Valkyrie
In terms of the best Weapon Loadout for the Cayo Perico Heist, it depends on your personal taste. You should always pay the GTA$5,000 for Suppressors as the quickest way to complete the Cayo Perico Heist is in stealth. The Aggressor, with its Assault Shotgun, works well for this strategy as does the Marksman. Just make sure you have Suppressors attached.
Once you've done all your Prep, your finale setup should look like the screenshot above. You can obviously experiment based on your own personal playstyle, but we'd strongly recommend you infiltrate with the Kosatka at the Drainage Tunnel to make life as easy as possible for yourself:
- Approach Vehicle
- Kosatka
- Infiltration Point
- Drainage Tunnel
- Compound Entry Point
- Drainage Tunnel
- Escape Point
- Main Dock
- Time of Day
- Day
- Weapon Loadout
- Aggressor or Marksman (with Suppressors)
You don't necessarily need to do any of the Disruption work because ideally for this guide we're going to complete the Cayo Perico Heist in total stealth, meaning you'll be off the island before you even have to engage in combat.
Finale Walkthrough
Now you're all prepared for the Finale, it's time to begin the mission. Fortunately, you can complete this in under 15 minutes if you're sensible with your approach. Always remember to pay attention to the vision cones of guards, as ideally you don't want to get detected. To begin, simply swim towards the Drainage Tunnel and use your Cutting Torch to infiltrate the compound.
Once you're inside the compound, head up the stairs and shoot the guard located at the top. Head to the left, through the garden with the trees, and shoot the guard patrolling the opposite side. Cut through the walkway where the guard was walking, and wait for another guard to appear at the top of the stairs. You need to wait for him to move out of the way of the Security Camera before taking him out, and then shoot the Security Camera itself.
Head up the small staircase opposite the one where the Security Camera was and take a left up another stair case. On the right is a guard through an archway, shoot him in the head and then hang a left next to the hedge. There's another guard defending a staircase at the bottom of the stairs; kill him and then head up. Do be careful, as there's one more guard patrolling this area. Once you're at the top, you'll be able to enter El Rubio's office.
Always open the Safe on the right as this can include anywhere from GTA$50,000 to GTA$100,00. You'll also want to check if there are any Paintings you can steal in this room. Then use the Fingerprint Cloner on the fireplace to reach the basement.
The Fingerprint Cloner hack is fairly straightforward to complete, just start at the top and count the tiles for each segment. You have five minutes to do this, but it really shouldn't take you more than 90 seconds if you're concentrating.
Steal the contents from the Safe (or Glass Case, depending on your Mission Target) and then head back to El Rubio's office and down the stairs. Once you exit the staircase, opposite where you killed a guard previously, is a gate. Kill the guards in this area and exit the compound.
Once you're out of the compound, on the pathway with trees, kill the guard standing in front of a bike. At this stage you can steal his motorbike and drive to the southern tip of Cayo Perico where you can wait for a boat to drive past and nab it to escape. That will complete the mission.
Alternatively, if you're going for the Elite Challenge, which requires you to fill your Loot Bag, then you'll need to carefully make your way to the Main Docks where the Secondary Targets you should have scouted earlier are located. Take it slow and pick off any guards and security cameras. You can use the Cutting Torch to enter any warehouses with Secondary Targets inside, so it shouldn't take too much time.
Because the Main Docks were selected as an Escape Point, there'll be a boat waiting for you which you can use to exfiltrate once you're ready. And that will complete the Cayo Perico Heist. If you did it quick enough — and didn't fail any hacks — then you'll get a boost to your final pay cheque by completing the Elite Challenge.
Hard Mode
The best thing about the Cayo Perico Heist is that it's designed to be replayed. Once you return to Los Santos, you'll be contacted by Pavel about doing it again. If you pay the setup fee within 45 minutes and start the Heist over, then you'll activate Hard Mode which will allow you to earn even more money. Because the strategy outlined within this article is conducted entirely within stealth, there's no real difference to the difficulty either. So it's recommended that you play in Hard Mode where possible.
By following this guide you can easily make millions of GTA$ every hour, and while it can get repetitive — you'll definitely want to learn How to Make Money Fast through other methods to keep things fresh and varied — it's a great strategy if you're looking to get the Best Cars and Vehicles to Buy and Own and Best Guns and Weapons to Buy.
One thing to note is that if you are having trouble with griefers during the Prep missions, then you can do all of the Cayo Perico Heist in an Invite Only Session. For more information on that, learn How to Play Solo and Avoid Griefers through the link.
