Monster Hunter Wilds Beta: How to Access
On PS5, accessing the Monster Hunter Wilds beta test is easy. All you need to do is head into the PS Store and search "Monster Hunter Wilds beta". The app should appear first on the results, and from there you can add it to your library and, when the pre-load period is open, download it to your PS5.
For the first beta period, only PS Plus members can play, meaning the beta will be accessible only to subscribers until the second beta period. At this point, everyone will be able to download and enjoy the beta test.
Monster Hunter Wilds Beta: Download Sizes
On PS5, the Monster Hunter Wilds beta is approximately 16.6 GB, so you'll need to ensure you have at least this much space available on your console's SSD before you can install it.
Monster Hunter Wilds Beta: All Content Included
Capcom has announced what will be available to play in the Monster Hunter Wilds beta, and we're going to outline it all for you here.
The open beta comprises three parts:
Character Creation
This part of the beta gives you access to Monster Hunter Wilds' full suite of character creation options. This lets you fully customise your character and Palico, and you're able to redo this process as many times as you like.
Your character creation data can be transferred over to the final game when it launches in February, so you can continue playing with your custom hunter and Palico.
Story Trial
The Story Trial part of the beta allows you to play the opening moments of Monster Hunter Wilds' cinematic story mode. This consists of the opening cutscene and a hunt against a Chatacabra, which includes basic tutorials on the game's combat.
Doshaguma Hunt
The Doshaguma Hunt part of the beta, your aim is to take down the alpha of a pack of Doshaguma in the region Windward Plains, giving you a real taste of the gameplay experience of Monster Hunter Wilds.
In either of the beta's missions, you can send up an SOS Flare to call in other players to assist you. If there aren't enough players to join your hunt, the SOS Flare will summon AI hunters to fill the gaps.
Monster Hunter Wilds Beta: All Rewards and How to Get Them
Anyone who takes part in the Monster Hunter Wilds beta will be awarded a special bonus Pendant for use in the full game when it launches in February.
You can use the Pendant to decorate your weapon or Seikret (your mount).
Monster Hunter Wilds Beta: What Does and Doesn't Carry Over to the Full Game
If you play the Monster Hunter Wilds beta, some aspects of your play time will carry over to the final game when it arrives early next year. Here's what will persist into the full game:
- Character creation data
- Your beta test bonus Pendant decoration
And here's what will not carry over to the full game:
- Story/mission progress
- Friend registration data

Wowee!! Looks like one heck of a game 🎃 totally going to get into this game when it comes out for PlayStation 5. I then we can say, it's clobberin' time!
@Yagami Same but that's why I'm glad there's early access on PlayStation so at least I can try it these few days before DA The Veilguard release.
Not usually one for betas but enjoyed MH:World so much that I just might check it out.
I have it downloaded.... let's go!!!!

Monster Hunter hasn’t clicked with me yet, but I can’t turn down a good beta.
A few days early access on ps5 before I switch to my pc for the ultimate hunting experience. Can’t wait. One more sleep - I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve again.

Will play the beta, but won’t be able to until it’s open to all this weekend.
@somnambulance for me it's amazing, but get even more amazing in high rank and end game. I beg you to make it that far before a final judgement.
@bowzoid Damn, you're right. I misread it as 3pm and am in the game now thinking it'd go live in a few minutes. 😩
Saddest thing I've read on the internet in my entire life...
Hope it's as good as mh:w.
@Cutmastavictory I’ll try it again. I always give the betas and demos a shot. I figure the game’s popular for a reason, so one of these days it’s gotta hit. I’ve been saying the same thing about Like a Dragon and Persona too, but one of these days…
Heh, I get to play early and seem cool as I carry my friends. They'll never know I actually suck at these kinds of games!
@AfroMario Hammer Main? Me too!
Curious to see how this runs after the steaming pile of doggy doo-doo that was Dragon's Dogma 2.
