Description
A flying wyvern that was considered extinct according to documents left behind by the Guild. Their wings have a unique, chain-like blade that can extend and retract freely to reap their prey. They feed on elemental energy absorbed through these chainblades, and are able to convert the energy to unleash dragon element attacks.

Here are a few pointers on how to defeat an Arkveld in Monster Hunter Wilds.

  • Fighting Arkveld is basically the same as fighting Guardian Arkveld from the main campaign. It uses the same attacks, and when it's enraged, it'll imbue itself with the same draconic energy. The key difference is that it isn't able to create the Wylk crystals that its guardian counterpart can.
  • The biggest issue with Arkveld is the sheer range of its attacks. It can cover huge distances by leaping across the battlefield, or by lashing out with its chain blades. Always be on your guard and concentrate on its movements to get the right read.
  • You can maximise your damage against Arkveld by staying in front of it, as both of its arms and its head are classed as weak points. This does mean, however, that you'll need to be wary of its sweeping strikes and smaller headbutts.
  • Arkveld's most powerful attack is its three-stage elemental explosion. It can be deceptively hard to spot and it covers a massive amount of space directly in front of the monster. You need to either rush Arkveld so the blasts occur behind you, or dive to the sides.

As with all monsters, the materials you receive as rewards when you beat Arkveld are somewhat randomised. In other words, you may need to hunt the monster multiple times to get certain materials. Here's a breakdown of all possible Arkveld rewards.
