Where is the Training Area in Monster Hunter Wilds? If you're looking to experiment with different weapon types or want somewhere safe to practice, the Training Area is where you want to go — but where is it, exactly? As part of our Monster Hunter Wilds guide, we're going to show you exactly where the Training Area is and what you can do there.

Where Is the Training Area in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Once it's unlocked early on in the game, the Training Area is located in Windward Plains, the first location in Monster Hunter Wilds.

It's attached to the Windward Plains Base Camp; as you come in, the Training Area entrance is located towards the back of the Base Camp on the right-hand side.

Alternatively, once unlocked, you can fast travel directly to the Training Area from wherever you are in Monster Hunter Wilds. To do so, open the map with Touch Pad, then press Triangle to open the world map. The Training Area is located towards the bottom left of the screen.

Select it and fast travel to the Makeshift Camp to go straight to the Training Area.

How Do You Practice Weapons in the Training Area in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Once you've found the Training Area, you're free to practice any weapon type you like by attacking the High Purrformance Barrel Puncher, which stands in for a real monster. By default, it will simply stand there like a dummy, allowing you to get to grips with the weapon you're using with no pressure.

When you enter the Training Area, the game will display contextual recommended combos and button prompts to help you learn the basics of whichever weapon type you're currently using.

If you want to try out a different weapon, approach the Makeshift Camp on the left and press Cross/X. Navigate to the Equipment Menu and select Change Equipment. From here, you can choose any weapon type and equip it. By default, you have the Hope version of every weapon, allowing you to practice with them all before you commit to crafting more powerful variations.

What Else Is There to Do in the Training Area in Monster Hunter Wilds?

The Training Area's main purpose is to let you get a feel for all the weapons by wailing on the High Purrformance Barrel Puncher. However, you can change some aspects of the Training Area experience by talking to Luke, who's sat next to the Makeshift Camp.

Speak to him and you can change the training settings, including the strength of the High Purrformance Barrel Puncher's "hide", whether it remains static or attacks, its orientation and whether it moves around, and more. Tweaking these settings will allow you to practice your weapon in specific ways or under specific conditions.
