After much anticipation and rounds of promising betas, Path of Exile 2 is available in early access now. This page will reveal how to get Path of Exile 2 Early Access and what content is available.
How to Get Early Access to Path of Exile 2
Here are the ways you can get early access to Path of Exile 2:
- On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, pay $30 for a Founder's Pack
- On PC, pay $30 if you haven't spent more than $480 in the first game
If you're looking to play Path of Exile 2 on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, you can gain access to the Early Access version via a $30 purchase on each console's digital storefront.
For players on PC, gaining access will depend on how much money you spent on the first Path of Exile game. In a rather interesting approach, if you spent $480 or more on microtransactions and currency in the original game, you gain free access to Path of Exile 2 in early access.
If you spent less or nothing at all, then the $30 purchase is the cheapest option to play the game. The developer is also offering more expensive versions on PC that bundle in both physical and digital items. You can check those out via the link.
When Will the Full Release of Path of Exile 2 Be?
The release date for a full launch of Path of Exile 2 into version 1.0 hasn't been announced yet. The Early Access version launches on 6th December 2024, and based on how much time the first game spent in its open beta phase, we may be looking at close to a year before version 1.0 arrives. Path of Exile was first released to the public in January 2013 as an open beta, and then released fully 10 months later in October 2013.
If those timings translate to the sequel, then we could be looking at a full Path of Exile 2 release around the beginning of 2026. However, the amount of time games spend in Early Access can vary dramatically, so there's no guarantee. Grinding Gear Games does at least seem to think it'll hit version 1.0 within 2025, though.
What Content Is Available in Path of Exile 2 in Early Access?
Even in just the Early Access version, Grinding Gear Games is describing Path of Exile 2 as a "big game". At the launch of Early Access, there will be:
- 3 campaign acts
- 6 character classes (Warrior, Sorceress, Ranger, Monk, Mercenary, and Witch)
- 50 bosses
- Over 400 monster types
- Skill Gem system
- Passive Skill Tree
- 7 endgame modes

This game will be the new standard for ARPGs
This looks sooo good! But going to hold off for a while until it's gotten a few patches.
Loved the first game and I can't wait for this. The diablo killer I've been waiting for.
My well wishes go out to those that only spent $479 on the first one
@Ravix Make that 450$ - the ones that payed 451$-479$ can still buy some packs in the first game to make up the difference, while still paying less than 30$.
Finally, we are so close!
For an early access, the game looks amazing and offers quite a lot of content, solo and multiplayer!
Gives a much needed lesson to other competitors, innit?
( Blizzard, take notes! ).
How is early December (the 6th, specifically) so stacked this year?
Say what you will about your personal tastes, but the fact POE2, Marvel Rivals, and the Fortnite OG update/mode all launching on the same day is pretty wild to me for this time of year.
@Liam You make it seem like $30 option is the only way to get into Early Access of Poe2, these will be sold on PS Store on friday 6th December:
$30 Just gives a key and 300 points, the others give key, points equal to it's price ($60=600 points, $100=1000 points and so on)and MTX like armour and pets.
Edit: 4 days to go!!!
This game looks amazing. Possible to knock Diablo 2 off the perch as best ARPG. Only concern is I've never really gotten deep into a f2p game before. Wish I could just buy the game and be done. I know stashes are kind of nickel and dimed but hope it isn't some p2w nonsense.
I'm going to say this. If blizzard did this, people would be crying. But I'll. Be paying the 30 bucks on December 6th.
@Jayslow No it's not. If you buy the $30 dollar EA pack you use those 300 point in the ingame store and buy yourself some stashtabs, seem people suggest: 1 currency stash tab, 1 premium stash tab (upgrade) and 1 each of mapstash tab and waystone stashtab.
But I'm sure people that played PoE for the last 10-11 years will post videos on what tabs to buy this weekend, so get the EA and just use the 4 bank tabs you get with the game to get started, that's what I plan to do.
And if you got PS Plus, don't forget to claim the free PoE bundles. I claimed most of the 17 that Sony gave out the last 10+ years and they will work for both PoE1 and PoE2 as long as you play on the same platform. So all MTX from PoE1 on PS4/5 will work in PoE2.
@ChimpMasta vocal hardcore? Are you being serious? The first game had a much bigger online presence than diablo 3 did and they launched at the same time. PoE still has a huge player base probably still larger than the diablo franchise which I hasten to add is one of my all time fave franchises but I've got to be honest and say that PoE is the much better of the games.
@Zeke68 "If you spent less or nothing at all, then the $30 purchase is the cheapest option to play the game." No he's not.
@Northern_munkey I should have wrote "you make it seem like the $30 supporter pack is the only supporterpack that get you into the Early Access".
Better?
Or do you talk about PC EA? I never mentioned that as I play on PS5 only. We are on a PS site after all...
@Zeke68 not at all. I thought he made himself pretty clear and I myself at least understood what he was saying. Is this a PlayStation Web site? Oops I thought it was all nintendo..my bad.
@Northern_munkey I guess you want to be funny but you come across as trolling tbh. Whatever, I wont feed into that.
@Zeke68 trolling? I can be accused of many things but never trolling buddy? I guess we just read things differently and our interpretations are different.
"Is this a PlayStation Web site? Oops I thought it was all nintendo..my bad." Typical trolling way of getting trolling going?!
How friendly is this going to be for new players?
@Zeke68 helps if you copy me in when replying. It's called being sarcastic. Look I was having a bit of light hearted early morning banter so if I upset you then I'll apologise. Try not to be so uptight it's just not good for you.
@ChimpMasta I hear you pal but I've been with diablo from the start way back in the mists of time and I've been around PoE on the pc and ps4/5..personally for me it's going to be the much better game than d4.
GGG just mentioned the Playstation Supporter packs will be out about 24 hours before Early Access starts.
Quite interested in this and I'm booked off Friday so... Yeah, probably will. My only concern is that I own Diablo 3 and 4 but never get far in to them!
Haha funny as somebody said, here's the yearly "wow killer" but it's diablo instead, this won't knock diablo off the perch , nor will some random eastern mmo kill of wow.
I guess it's nice to hope, PoE2 will most likely turn into it's predecessor, disgusting amount of mtx's, overwhelming skills/ability trees,
Would never touch an arpg where it was possible to spend that much money.
@ChimpMasta you say slop, and we always see loads here putting games as such down, but must be some wrong minority people here because all.mentioned games sell year after year in the millions without a problem. Most people love the grind and the gameplay loop for the shineys🤣
I never played the first game but even I know this is the new Diablo king and that me coming from Diablo 1 and 2 Blizzard best games I could say Diablo 3 but it took Reaper of Souls to make that a better game than it's launch
No necromancer? For some reason, the bare minimum for me to play a diablolike game is if you can play necromancer.
Stupidly enough, you most often can't.
@ZeroSum Diablo 3 with Reaper of Souls was a far better game it really was I got Diablo 3 on launch and apart from the network issues. The game was rather dull and I quit after 3 months, I didn't go back until a year after RoS came out but started a new Barb and I was hooked at the way through
@Nakatomi_Uk RoS added many QoL features alongside with decent endgame and progression — those are the things which made D3 finally shine.
So... It is not free to play like the first game?
@Zeke68 Guild Wars 1 just buy the game and for new stuff buy the expansions and play without a online fee.
Better more honest and clear what you get.
@Flaming_Kaiser ??? What's unclear? All supporterpacks and prices are now covered on Path Of Exile.com.
In about a year it's going out of Early Access (beta) and it's free to play, entire campaign 7 acts and largest endgame in the ARPG genre including the 12 classes. Still don't get what unclear to you?
Guild Wars 1 isn't even a game like PoE2 so I don't get what you are on about. Responded to wrong post by way? I never mentioned online fee or anything about honesty??
Just woke up so really confused here lol.
@ozkrmz Yes, but Early Access (like a beta) will cost money to get into. In about 12 months they release the finished game (at the moment done to 90%) and then it WILL be free.
If you like this game you can jump in now for a fee, 30 bucks and upwards, otherwise you need to wait at least 6-12 months. Totally up to you.
Hope this helps.
I'm disappointed that it's not free-to-play right now, but I might drop the money to play it.
@Bentleyma I think most people are just like you. I felt the same way "pay -early access" - bummer...
But the more I seen from the game the more I wish it was friday
I'll drop 370 on the biggest pack as I love those hideouts and armor. But that's just me. Got the money so I thought, "why not!"
@Vorflynn Gameplaywise - harder than D4 for sure. It's a slower more impactful combat in PoE2.
But the systems and UI has all been reworked to help new players learn the game much easier according to the videos GGG showed so far. If you play at your own pace, read the tooltips and experiment a little you'll be fine. And most important: explore everything and kill all optional bosses for extra skills and unique loot.
@EfYI Necro? Yes, that's the witch class, Infernalist if I remember correctly. Edit: Check out Ghazzy's YT channel for a video from yesterday to see it fits your needs.
Has anyone thought of what a Sony First-Party RPG would look like these days? I'm sure it's not going to happen... but things like this make me ponder...
If I buy EA on PC, do i need to buy again on PS5 to preload on PS5?
It looks good, but I dont like the idea of paying for an unfinished game with potential bugs and teething issues as opposed to waiting and getting the full finished game with less to no issues for free.
Dear friend @Zeke68
Thank you for the clarification.
Now I see what was not clearly mentioned on the announcements.
Seems like, my earliest touch to second game will be next year or maybe even later, in case of some delays and/or unexpected developments in the future...
Well... I guess I can spend some time with the first game...
Thank you once again for the clarification though.
Much appreciated
@Kiefer-Sutherland this is a proper early access of a game still in development.
There is no potential it's a case of there will be bugs, issues & frequent updates that will kill your character and or progress.
Anyone going into this who is not expecting that has been blinded by hype.
GGG are good at doing things like giving full respects if they adjust something that will affect builds during this phase. At least they did in the original POE beta so you won't always lose everything but everyone should be aware that is possible.
You have the right attitude of waiting if you are not comfortable going into this with all that in mind.
I hope folks do remember that the game is still in development when things inevitably go wrong.
@RiverGenie Excellent summary that 100% is the case in every Early Access, no matther what game. I just want to add one thing, GGG have promised no serverwipes of characters during EA. Whatever changes they make you can keep playing, but you might need to get new gear if they nerf something broken/totally OP.
@ozkrmz No problems. Have fun in PoE1 !!
Edit: Optional view on this: Got my friend here that started PoE1 this summer and he says "I think it's better to get in early on PoE2 EA and learn the game from the groundup, before the game gets too bloated in a year or 2 with too much to learn as a new player".
No right /wrong here, just a thought for you.
Happy gaming friend!
@Zeke68 thanks for the advice, I will give it a try.
Thank you my friend @Zeke68
Strap in things might get bumpy. GGG has had over a million early access key redemptions which they were never expecting.
They had previously bot tested the servers to 1.6 million players but that didn't load test the back end like authentication etc.
In light of this they have started to get new capacity online but still issued a warning that there might be issues (YouTube vid below)

Holy poop! They already sold a mil!
My body is ready! Opted in for the 60€ pack cause the little kiwi pet is just so damn cute!
I bought the £45 pack mainly for the pets haha. Have no idea if i will be playing tonight though because we all know including the Devs that there will be server issues.
One style of gaming that I have never been able to enjoy is the isometric view. Don’t know why, but I just don’t enjoy them, even after trying to force myself to with 70 hours of Diablo IV. It’s the main reason I still haven’t played BG3.
Tried the first one on PC but it was overly complicated, there's just no need for that kind of minuscule detail in the talent build/points
I got in straight away this morning before work. I'm finding the game pretty difficult!
Somehow, I've never heard of either. After taking a cursory glance, I'm kind of OK with that. Not my thing.
