What carries over in Persona 3 Reload's New Game+ mode? Just like in previous Persona titles, it's possible to replay the game with a lot of your progress from a previous playthrough intact. In this Persona 3 Reload guide, we're going to list everything that carries over into a New Game+ run, and provide answers to key questions that you might have.

Persona 3 Reload: New Game+ - What Carries Over and How to Start

Again, New Game+ lets you carry over various aspects of your previously completed playthrough. This essentially means that you don't have to spend your time grinding for stuff that you had already unlocked during your last run.

As such, New Game+ is a great way to sweep up Trophies you may have missed the first time around, and it's perfect for when you just want to enjoy Persona 3 Reload's story again, without having to worry about certain gameplay systems.

How to Start New Game+ in Persona 3 Reload

To start a New Game+ playthrough in Persona 3 Reload, you first need to complete the game. Once the credits roll, you'll be asked to save something called 'Clear Data'.

Save the Clear Data to a save slot of your choice — but be warned that if you save over a previous save that was made in-game, you'll no longer be able to go back to it.

Once your Clear Data is saved, you'll be taken back to the game's main menu. From here, choose 'Load Game' and then load your Clear Data. This will take you straight into New Game+.

What Carries Over to New Game+ in Persona 3 Reload?

Here's a full list of everything that carries over in Persona 3 Reload's New Game+:

  • Persona Compendium
All of the personas that you fused, and unlocked via Shuffle Time — complete with all of their levels, stats, and skills — are available to summon from the Velvet Room right from the start of New Game+. Note that you'll still have to spend money in order to summon them.
  • Shadow Analysis Information
All of the information on enemies that you've compiled over the course of your playthrough(s) is available right from the start in New Game+. This means that you don't have to discover weaknesses and resistances all over again.
  • Social Stats
Your personality traits — Academics, Charm, and Courage — retain their levels in New Game+. So, if you maxed out these social stats in your previous playthrough(s), you won't have to spend time increasing them again. This also means that you can spend much more of your free time developing Social Links, or partaking in other activities. What's more, you'll be able to unlock specific Social Links much earlier in the game, because your social stats will already be at the required level.
  • Protagonist Level
The protagonist retains his overall character level in New Game+. This lets you summon previously unlocked personas right from the start, even if they're high level.
  • Protagonist HP and SP Gains
Permanent increases to the protagonist's HP and SP will carry over to New Game+. These are the gains that you get from using certain computer software at the dorm, and the gains that occur when you choose specific Major Arcana cards during Shuffle Time. You can continue to gain HP and SP through the same methods in New Game+, all the way until you have 999 of each.
  • Party Member Stat Increases
Any party member stats that were increased outside of leveling up will be retained in New Game+. This includes incense stat gains, and HP / SP increases through choosing Major Arcana cards during Shuffle Time.
  • Items
All of the consumable items that were in your inventory when you completed the game will be carried over to New Game+.
  • Equipment
All of the equipment that was in your inventory when you completed the game will be carried over to New Game+.
  • Skill Cards
All of the skill cards that were in your inventory when you completed the game will be carried over to New Game+.
  • Materials
All of the materials that were in your inventory when you completed the game will be carried over to New Game+.
  • Twilight Fragments
All of the Twilight Fragments that you had in your possession when completing the game will be carried over to New Game+.
  • Costumes
All of the cosmetic costumes you unlocked in your previous playthrough(s) will be unlocked from the start in New Game+. However, the SEES combat uniforms are still unlocked via the main story.
  • Key Items
Some key items are carried over to New Game+. More specifically, the key items you get from completed Social Links — which let you fuse powerful personas — are retained.
  • Money
All of the money that was in your inventory when you completed the game is carried over to New Game+.
  • Play Time
Your total play time is carried over to New Game+. This is the timer that appears next to your save data.

Can You Change the Difficulty Level in New Game+?

Yes, you can change the difficulty in New Game+. When you first load your Clear Data, the game will ask you to choose a difficulty setting — just like you would if you were starting a regular playthrough.

In Persona 3 Reload, you're free to change the difficulty at any time through the options menu — and that's still possible in New Game+ as well.

It's worth noting that New Game+ is great for tackling the game's harder difficulty levels. Maybe it's time to try Merciless?

Do Enemies Get Stronger in New Game+?

No, enemies stay the same level with the same stats in New Game+. This means that if you decide to use powerful personas and equipment from your previous playthrough, you'll find the game to be incredibly easy. Even on the hardest difficulty settings, you won't find much of a challenge until near the end of the game.

If you're playing New Game+ and you still want to be challenged, you may want to set rules for your playthrough, like limiting yourself to using just one persona. There's fun to be found in unique challenge runs, especially since so much of your progress carries over to New Game+ anyway.
