There are 4x Artefacts, 1x Firefly Pendant , 1x Shiv Door, 1x Safe, and 1x Optional Conversation to find in The Woods, as Joel and Ellie push forward in search of a favour.
The Last of Us 1: The Woods Walkthrough
Welcome to the woods. It's gorgeous here, so you're going to want to take your time, especially after escaping from The Capitol Building.
Feel free to have a little browse around here, but really there's only one way to go: you're heading towards the water tower. If you explore near the sewage grate on the right, however, you can grab some valuable resources which are going to come in handy later on. You can try the gate, but it's locked shut, so head left and hop over the log towards the buildings.
Grab the plank of wood behind the outbuilding and prop it up against the office. Then use the boxes to climb up on top of the roof and grab the plank that you perched against it. Use the wood to create a makeshift bridge to get onto the other side of the fence. Remember to grab the upgraded melee weapon off the roof, too — this will reward you with the requisite crafting recipe.
From the water tower area, go down the hill and drop down into an opening where there's an old basketball hoop. Directly ahead of you, next to some stairs, is a shed with a Clicker inside. You can shoot him but be aware that another Clicker will hone in on your position if you make too much noise.
The best thing to do is to take the metal stairs to the left of the shed, and head inside the building. Directly to the left, still upstairs, is a room with some computers and office-like equipment. Loot it for supplies. There are some Supplements directly opposite where you enter as well.
Artefact #1: Pills Note
After the shed with the Clicker inside, shortly after the water tower, take the metal staircase and go through the door into a building. On the left, in the room with office equipment, you'll find the Artefact named Pills Note on the floor.
Shiv Door #1
Drop down from the metal staircase you used to get into the building with the previous Artefact, and you'll find a Shiv Door on the left. Open it for supplies.
From the location of the Shiv Door, try to open the gate directly ahead. Unsurprisingly, it's locked, so use the triangle prompt to boost Ellie over, and wait for her to let you through. Now it's time to explore the area and gather all of the collectibles. We'd recommend you start by heading left into the garden with all the gnomes to grab some Supplements and various other crafting gear.
Optional Conversation #1
The pizza shop is opposite the gate you came through to reach the main street. Head inside and Ellie will rush straight over to the arcade cabinet, triggering an Optional Conversation. Be sure to grab all the supplies before you leave, including the Weapons Parts on the picnic tables out the back.
Firefly Pendant #1: Wang's Firefly Pendant
Further down the main street from the pizza shop, look out for an camper van. Climb on the police car parked in front of it then get up onto its roof. A Firefly Pendant named Wang's Firefly Pendant has been left up here.
Artefact #2: Note to Bob
Head further down the hill, beyond the camper van, and to a wall that Joel describes as "Bill's handiwork". There's an Artefact on the barbed wire named Note to Bob.
Safe #1
As you may have noticed, the Artefact named Note to Bob includes a Safe combination. Opposite the pizza shop is a pick-up truck, with a Safe next to it. Enter the code 05-17-21 to open it for supplies.
Artefact #3: Perimeter Note
Return to the camper van, where you found the Firefly Pendant, and go inside the record store. In the back room, beyond the store with all the records in it, you'll find an Artefact called Perimeter Note.
Once you're done collecting everything, head down the alley behind the music shop, and a Clicker will come stumbling towards you. Don't sweat it too much — Bill has this area rigged up real good.
Shiv Door #2
Immediately to the right, after Bill's trap destroys the Clicker, there's a Shiv Door with supplies inside. Be sure to open it and collect them all.
Head out of the Shiv Door room and continue down the path behind the buildings until you see a corpse with a couple of arrows sticking out of it. Collect the arrows, and then pick up the ladder. Prop it up against the truck and climb up to the top.
Weapon: Bow
On top of the trailer you used the ladder to climb up, behind a chair, is another arrow and a new Weapon: the Bow.
Cross the beam from where you found the Bow and once Ellie has got across pick the plank up. Perch it against the wall and climb the ladder. Now pick the beam up and lay it down to create a bridge to the other side.
There's a Clicker ahead so it's time to test out your Bow. A headshot will kill it. Keep moving forward across the rooftops until you reach a ladder, and climb down. But before you move forward, pay attention to the trap. You're going to want to duck under it, or risk being blown to pieces.
Immediately after the trap, you'll hear a thumping sound coming from your left. It's coming from behind a door, so go inside, up the stairs, and into the living area on your left. Be careful because there's a Runner in here, so be ready to take him out before he swarms you.
Artefact #4: Note to Rachel
In the room where you encountered the Runner, look to the right. There's a table with the word Rachel and an arrow written on the wall. On the table is an Artefact called Note to Rachel.
Grab the Supplements from the bathroom and then exit out of the house. Pick up the bricks outside and use them to clear away two of Bill's traps. Then open the door to the warehouse and get ready for one of the most iconic moments in the game.
You're in a trap and upside down, and Runners and Clickers are swarming you while Ellie deals with the counter weight. Fortunately, you have unlimited ammo so just try to aim for the head and keep them at bay. Eventually you'll fall down and Bill will be on hand to help. Follow his lead until you get pinned in a building by Runners and Clickers, and take them out. Then follow him further to the Safehouse where you can chill a little bit.
