Will PlayStation Now be coming to PS5? How will PS Now work on PS5? Sony's on-demand gaming service has been growing steadily on PS4, but the question remains how it will expand to PS5 in the future. What Is PS Now?
PS Now, or PlayStation Now, is a subscription-based service provided by Sony that allows members to stream or download from a huge library of games. This includes software from PS2, PS3, and PS4, and amounts to hundreds of games that you can access on-demand.
You can stream games from the cloud if your connection is strong enough, but you can also download titles directly to your PS4 console and play them locally. This only applies to PS4 and PS2 software right now. For more about PS Now, including prices, games, and availability, check out this guide: PlayStation Now FAQ - Everything You Need to Know.
Will PS Now Be on PS5?
Yes, Sony has confirmed PS Now will be coming to PS5. As with PS Plus, PS Now subscriptions will transfer over to PS5 when the console launches. The platform holder has invested a lot in making PS Now a valuable service, and it will continue to do so on PS5.
How Will PS Now Work on PS5?
Your existing PS Now membership will carry over to PS5, as your subscription is tethered to your PSN account. You'll also likely be able to access all the same games when using PS Now on PS5 — that is to say, you'll be able to play PS2, PS3, and PS4 games on PS5 via streaming. Because PS5 will be backwards compatible with PS4, you will also be able to download PS4 titles from PS Now onto your PS5 as well. Sony wants to make the transition from PS4 to PS5 as seamless as possible, and that will include PS Now.
Will PS Now Have PS5 Games?
Right now, we don't know for certain, but PS Now will likely get PS5 games added to its library over time. Sony will only keep adding to the value of PlayStation Now, and that will eventually include the addition of PS5 titles to the service. If and when PS5 games come to PS Now, you'll likely be able to either stream or download them direct to your console. My guess is that ps5 games will only come 9 to 12 months down the road, but we should see more ps4 titles added once the launch of ps5 comes out.
I feel like this is a good opportunity for Sony to take a page from Microsoft and expand the service with new games as a subscription, like Game Pass. I'd also like to see some kind of disk verification so we could insert owned ps1-3 games and download or stream the ps Now version as a backward compatibility option.
Don't see why not, maybe even merge it with PS+
I think you should be able to play any PlayStation games on Pc which I know they already have and yes combine PS Plus with PS Now and have full backwards compatibility that would be neat and obviously have a wide library of games available with your subscription basically no limits on what device you wanna use
As long as I can get hitman on it I should be happy
Have you noticed that some games are available for the ps5 ps now and not the ps4 version, and vise versa? Only one Atelier game is on the ps5, there are 4 or 5 of them on the ps4 ps now. Also, all the versions of DOA5 (with each trophy list) are on the PS5, only one version is on the ps4. There might be more examples. Weird????
