In fact, they spent a year capturing animation for the highly ambitious release. A lot of other developers spend large sums of money on motion capture too. The one way to save such costs is to buy an off the shelf animation package, something which Quantic Dream believe they can provide.

Touted as “the industry’s first high-end, off-the-shelf solution for real-time 3D character animation," Quantic Dream will release a package entitled the Motion Kit Collection for purchase by developers, allowing them to leapfrog the motion capture process.
