Heavy Rain certainly wasn’t a perfect game: it had more plot holes than a colander, and some of the strangest accents we've ever encountered. But, refreshingly, Quantic Dream acknowledges those flaws, and the Parisian studio is working hard to ensure it corrects them with its next release.
Studio gaffer David Cage told Gamasutra:
We were pretty much unhappy with everything [about Heavy Rain]. We thought we could have done a better job in all areas, and have better rendering, and better visuals, and better gameplay, and better everything.
This is definitely things we took into account designing the new technology, wanting to work with performance capture. And we wanted a better blend of storytelling and interactivity. We thought that sometimes in Heavy Rain there were moments where the balance wasn’t exactly right. We are working on new ways of merging this in a more natural and fluid way.
It’s rumoured that Quantic Dream's next title will be announced during E3. What are you hoping to see?

Now I don't feel so bad for not playing it. I was planning on playing it after my 2 young sons go off to college in about a dozen years.
Now, I realize there's always something to work on, but I don't necessarily like it when developers come out and say things like this. They could look to improve on their methods as a company, but to say they were "unhappy with everything" when it garnered such reviews seems sort of empty to me. I think Sucker Punch said about the same thing with Infamous/Infamous 2.
And it would be like Naughty Dog saying that they were highly disappointed with Uncharted 1. Heavy Rain wasn't my favorite game by any means, but I really enjoyed it, moreso than I thought I would.
The plot holes in Heavy Rain were over-emphasized, and many can be easily explained if you take the time to THINK about them. Honestly, I thought it was an EXCELLENT game, and these guys are being too hard on themselves. Of course the upside to this would be them trying even HARDER on their next game, and it's hard to see that as a bad thing...so carry on, Quantic Dream.
QD latest game plus last of us...i cant wait!
I thought this game wasn't very good, and I'm glad Quantic Dreams isn't satisfied with the results, either.
@Stuffgamer1 Hmm. Ok. How was is that Ethan had a nightmare where he pictured himself at the location of one of the murders when his character had no way of knowing where the murder happened? I never worked that one out.
The game was full of flaws, but it was still fantastic. I loved it. It is one of the few truly adult games around, full of complex themes. Pushing you emotionally as a player.
Can't wait for their next one.
Heavy Rain was alright, it was something different that's for sure. But once I saw 1 ending I did not really feel like playing through it again.
