EA Games will blow Battlefield 4’s doors wide open on 26th March in San Francisco. The publisher has sent out a slew of official invites to North American outlets, confirming the impending reveal of the first-person shooter. A similar ‘Save the Date’ invite teased the title’s announcement last month.
“Please join us to celebrate a new era of Battlefield,” the flier reads. There’s an image of a tank in the background, driving through a heavy storm.
GameStop executives recently got an early look at the secretive sequel, which is currently confirmed for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Asked at a financial call why the publisher didn’t opt to announce the title during last month’s PlayStation Meeting, the company insinuated that it preferred to hold its own events.
"I think [our absence was] more about [the] timing of our own slate, as well as trying to maintain a good balance of power with all of the parties out there and choosing when to unveil certain pieces of software,” said chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen. "I can say between now and E3 you're going to see a lot of stuff from us and we'll just choose our marketing cadence as to when to start to announce stuff.”
It’s going to be interesting to see how the Frostbite 2 engine looks on PS4. The previous game was absolutely stunning on PC, so we’re expecting a similar level of visual fidelity out of the next generation release.
