Sony’s regular North American PlayStation Store update has been pushed back due to a bothersome period of maintenance that never seems to come to an end. The online spring clean was originally planned for 15th April, but has seriously overrun in some areas, delaying this week’s content drop until an undetermined time.
When the PlayStation Store finally does refresh, you can look forward to a demo for Soul Sacrifice, Sacred Citadel, and Mad Dog 2: The Lost Gold. The platform holder’s promising regular updates on its Twitter account, so point your browser through here for the full lowdown.

Absolutely ridiculous.
THIS IS MADNESS.
It was a bit annoying that I couldn't play the Soul Sacrifice demo last night, but I'm not sure I completely understand why everyone is so upset about it? Was there some kind of pre-order or day 1 release thing people were waiting for?
Are people having issues signing and playing game due to maintenance? I seem to be able to without any problems so far
I was looking forward to Dragon Fantasy Book I, Sacred Citadel and the SS demo at least there is a Nintendo Direct this morning.
@nathanuc1988 I think it's just frustrating because it shouldn't be an issue. The maintenance was scheduled for Monday — it should have been done by now. Naturally, people that are acting like it's the end of the world are being idiots. It's definitely unnecessarily frustrating, though.
Usually things don't get this bad but it does seem like work is being done on PSN every week. Sony needs to have things much more in order for PS4. To me the worst part though was the complete lack of communication on the PS Blog. Yes I know they have twitter but there are many, myself included, who use the blog instead and the fact that NOBODY signed on to update us on the status of things at all is a joke. Just a quick update on what was going on would've been good enough and in the interest of consumer relations it should've been done.
EU store has already updated. It has Soul Sacrifice and Totori demos, XCOM, some DLC and price cuts for Lego and other games.
@Gamer83 A simple solution would be to include a Twitter 'ticker' on the NA blog like we have in Europe. I agree with you, though, these updates must be less disruptive.
@Savino
Ridiculously enough, Nintendo is better with its weekly updates than Sony. Both MS and Nintendo seem to have set deadlines that rarely get missed. Sony will update at 5:30 pm eastern some weeks and others it won't be done until 10. That has to fixed in the coming generation.
@get2sammyb
Didn't even think of that but it is a great idea. I actually am not even really bothered by this, it's electronics and sometimes stuff happens that these people can't control, just let us know what the deal is.
@Savino
Well that's a high profile release so good choice by Nintendo.
I'm pretty sure from Sony's point of view the update was neither pushed back nor delayed b/c they have never given us a time. How can you be late when you don't have a time? It's always Tuesday somewhere, right?
I was really looking forward to buying RPGM3
Just when I need to checkout SS. Guess I am waiting an extra day
@rjejr: No, no it isn't. It is no longer Tuesday anywhere in the world.
It just figures this happens on a day there's stuff I actually want to download. Some friends and I were planning to play the Soul Sacrifice demo online together...wound up on PSASBR instead.
I don't know how Sony's network teams and store teams still have jobs. I honestly don't - any other industry in the world and they'd have been sacked years ago. The amount of screw-ups has been unprecedented. This has to change for PS4. Has to.
Give us free games for the delay!
Pretty weak sony. This is part of why pspgo failed miserably. Their only store is inconsistent at best. Its not the end of the world, but it is pretty unprofessional.
yah im STILL waitng ,its wednesday and its noon . really? I also want to purchase games today.
I would be furious if I made a game that was supposed to be released yesterday.
Wow. I just went to the PS Blog - I've pretty much stopped going since everythign I want to know is covered here in a lay-out friendly format (who the heck created that US blog lay-out, blind people?) and it STILL isn't updated. And the stupid Soul Sacrififce demo still says "out "TODAY" which was really eysterday.
How screwed up is that?
On the bright side the replies are over 7000! That's like Tien levels.
@hamispink
That's another thing, Sony has done a great job building up developer support but it can't expect to keep it if issues like this continue to crop up. It doesn't hapen often but it does happen far more than it should. When Nintendo is more consistent with the online store updates there is a problem that needs fixing.
You have to start wondering just how much money Sony are throwing away with every single person who's turned away from the store (be it via an error, an update, etc.) and don't bother coming back.
Damn, I just wanna see what's on sale this week...
