Job done

Project Phoenix, the upcoming JRPG from a development dream team featuring former Square Enix, Blizzard, and SEGA employees, is officially coming to the PlayStation 4 and Vita. Creative Intelligence Arts had promised support for the various Sony systems earlier in the year, but stressed that discussions were ongoing. They’ve finally reached a conclusion, though, with a console and handheld release on the way.

“Over the past few weeks, we’ve received many messages, emails, and queries about the possibility of the game being released on the PS4 and Vita, and now, after long negotiations and discussions, that wish has become a reality,” explained the studio. “Although not every single detail about the release has been finalised, we’re proud and excited at the prospect of developing for the PlayStation platform.”

The ambitious project is being crowd funded on Kickstarter, and has already surpassed its $100,000 target. At the time of writing, the campaign has just five days left, but has raked in over $700,000. That’s pretty impressive, huh? The game itself hopes to fuse Western and Eastern gameplay styles, culminating in an adventure with worldwide appeal. Unfortunately, the title’s not due out until mid-2015, so you have a long wait ahead if you’re eager to play this.
