Lacrosse is one of those sports that you see in an American Pie movie and instantly ask what the heck is going on, but apparently it’s moderately popular in some parts of the world. It’s only natural, then, that the fly swatting-esque pastime should get its very own game – and that’s exactly what’s set to happen following the success of an Indiegogo campaign for Lacrosse 15.
Set to release on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 – courtesy of a stretch goal – the simulation promises to “revolutionise the gaming scene for lacrosse players”. There’ll be the usual roster of offline and online modes, including the light role-playing game mechanics that are all the rage in sports games these days.
Interestingly, the developer – Crosse Studios – is fronted by Carlo Sunseri, a former lacrosse player and coach turned game director. The team’s released a total of eight similar titles across iOS, Android, and various other platforms, so presumably this project is actually going to get finished – unlike other crowd funded campaigns currently hitting the headlines.
You can read a little more about the release through here. The game’s set to play ball early next year, which is sure to delight all six lacrosse fans around the globe.

State Team Sport of my home state of Maryland... I approve
Now this is what I'm talking about. Fresh experiences.
lacrosse is a very fast paced sport, perfectly suited to video games. makes more sense than a lot of other sports they make games for... like baseball, or basketball, or yawn soccer. Box lacrosse is MUCH better than field lacrosse, but its a start.
Hope that the LCF will grant them all the licenses they need. Can you imagine yourself playing with Pierre LaCourage, Duncan Overtoom, Bob Bindlings or the black Mamba Ross Reynolds? Sure, I'm gonna pick the Benigrad Panthers 9 out of 10 times (OP much?!?), but I'd like to see a full roster anyways. Hope there will be a penalty mode where we have to try and pass Dieter Farhnhardt... Mission impossible!
@Boerewors The lacrosse fans have arrived! Not sure of the plans for licensing here.
@get2sammyb
I was totally making up names, and even an entire LaCrosse Federation to see who would fall for it... You did Sammy
@Boerewors LMAO! That's brilliant. Hookline and sinker.
@get2sammyb
Was afraid that the "LaCourage" was a bit too obvious, but while scanning through it actually seems pretty plausible. This is sort of a running gag in our family where we make up names of sportsmen, sports organizations and, our favorite, birds and other small animals. We can easily talk 15 minutes straight about non-existing birds and come up with the most crazy names and specific behaviors of the made up birds (I'd give you examples, but in my native language it's way funnier because of the actual silly names we give to animals).
American sport games are shiz, only basketball is worth playing BAM!!
