Ever since its initial reveal, Persona fans have been clawing at developer Atlus for a PlayStation 4 port of Persona 5. At first, the upcoming Japanese RPG was confirmed as a PS3 exclusive.
Of course, that's no longer the case, as a new trailer that was shown at Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show conference confirmed that the stylish sequel will indeed by summoning its inner self on the firm's latest console. Not only that, but the video provides our first real glimpse of the game, and perhaps the title's protagonist. Do you think that you can contain yourself? Question is will it be coming to Xbone? if not this beats the Tomb Rider exclusivity
I've basically moved on from the last gen so this is fantastic news. We can safely assume NA and Europe right?
@DualWielding Yeah, it beats the exclusive game that will sell millions more. I love Persona games a lot more than Tomb Raider ones but if you honestly think they will sell more outside of Japan then you need to go and get yourself sectioned.
@DualWielding When do you ever see a Persona game on a Xbox console besides a spinoff ?
OT-Man this was a solid conference for me Bloodborne release date Feb 5, Ys PS4, Persona 5 PS4, and Dynamic themes coming to PS4. And this was only the pre show.
@Dohv
All good stuff and nice that Capcom officially confirmed RE: Revelations 2.
@rastamadeus
I love both, and yes Tomb rider will sell more but in terms of moving consoles, people are more likely to buy a console for persona than for Tomb Rider, the persona fan base is more rabid
theres no way it would come to xbox apart from the arena fighting game. peersona fan since the beginning, thou i preferred persona 3 to 4 but this looks like its going back to persona 3 mould
Well that happened. There better be a "golden" version?
Actually, there's no evidence to support the assumption that Japanese games like Persona won't sell well in the West. For starters, we haven't had a big Japanese name on the PS4 yet, and secondly, Persona is a franchise that'll only get bigger as it expands outside of its original niche.
At this point, looking at the PS4's library, I think a heavy hitting Japanese RPG could sell surprisingly well.
@johnny30 It may be released for Xbox One if, the console manage to sell insanely huge numbers in Japan (Not very likely)
@Punished_Boss It took 4 years for Golden to release, so 2019 maybe the
y you see a Golden version.
@ShogunRok Persona 4 Golden sold very well on PS Vita and all I have talk with say that, they love Persona 4 Golden, so it's very unlikely that Atlus US won't localized the game.
@artemisthemp The game was already confirmed for the West on PS3 for 2015, I don't think that have changed... However it was supposed to come out in Japan in 2014 and now its 2015 so probably its been delayed so the PS4 version can launch at the same time as PS4... we'll probably be seeing a western release by mid 2015
@DualWielding That's if Sega are better at localisation than Atlus, though. I don't even want to think about how long Atlus games usually take to come West.
I'll wait to see what/if the versions have much of a difference but this is good for fans who already upgraded.
@DualWielding Oh I didn't know that.
Then again it's PS4 version I am interested in.
AAAAAHH! I just want more! Give me the game already!
The main Persona titles have always been exclusive to PS consoles and I hope it stays that way.
This will be my first Persona 5 game, and as an anime lover I think I will love
this game.
@Putarinsky Trust me, if you're into any kind of teenage to mature anime, you'll more than likely adore the Persona games and their characters.
@ShogunRok I guess I'll have to buy it then!
@DualWielding "people are more likely to buy a console for persona than for Tomb Rider, the persona fan base is more rabid." I agree wih this. While Tomb Raider is a good game it just doesn't have strong enough potential to sell systems. That's almost like Xbox One having Assassins Creed as a timed exclusive. It would piss a lot of people off, but wouldn't budge the needle much. Persona on the other hand appeals to a wide range of RPG fans. A RPG fan would buy a PS4 just to play this one game the same way Nintendo fans buy Nintendo consoles just to play Zelda.
Well this officially puts the nail in the coffin for many PS3s. I know quite a few people who were only still holding onto their PS3s because they knew this game was coming.
Probably grab the PS3 version. But yay Persona!
Happy for the persona fans but more interested in DQHeroes
@rastamadeus what is wrong with you?
Persona!!! Seriously though i'm ultra hyped for this game. I'll probably hold off on buying it until I get a ps4.
8I I want this on Vita though, but at least I have a PS3 should that never happen like i know it wouldn't even be a remote possibility.
Looks like I'll be getting a PS4 after all. That game was the only reason I was getting a PS3. I'd rather invest in a more futureproof console, though.
