Last month, developer Yu Suzuki stated that he'd like to get Shenmue III onto physical PlayStation 4 discs, and thanks to the game's super successful Kickstarter campaign, it looks like that dream's going to become a reality.
You'll get a retail edition of the release if you pledge $60 to the project, and it'll come in a lovely cardboard cover that slips over the standard PS4 game case. Will you be getting one of these? Dare to reveal how much money you've pledged to the campaign in the comments section below.

We all know @get2sammyb will be putting this in a frame and mounting it next to his shrine.
This is great for me and others who prefer physical games. I'd gladly pledge if I could.
Do I want to know what Sammy's shrine is? Pile of vaporware, or does it rhyme with Baylor Shift?
I would be absolutely stoked about this if I would have actually been able to play the first two entries in the series. I wish Sega would allow someone to remaster/remake the first two for current gen so I actually know what's going on in this game series.
@JesWood13 I'm with you on that, but I have a feeling Sega would have to jump through a few hoops in order for that to happen. The other games are hard to come by nowadays too, so it'd really be helpful.
I hoping the other 2 will be made available
@DerMeister
Right next to his Taylor Swift Collection.
I guess it's cool if you like shenmue, but I remember shenmue not for being great but rather boring, and the reviews weren't that great either back when 1 and 2 came out.
I can't bring myself to back these kinds of projects, not because I'm not interested in the game more so the fact it really is only a concept like Mighty No.9 and that one has since disappointed me in what it turned out as. It all just feels like too much of a risk.
Not one red cent for a game I have to wait 2-4 yrs to get and have no idea if it will be any good.
@al_b_614 what magazines were you reading? I remember people falling over themselves acclaiming Shenmue to be the best game ever.
Just checked, critically acclaimed. Across the board.
@DerMeister @JesWood13 buy a Dreamcast, buy Shenmue, change your life
@themcnoisy I know, Shenmue is a favourite of many game experts/aficionados etc etc. It was groundbreakingly glorious.
Also guys, tons more rewards like getting yourself in the game, .... wut wut wut, yes, in the game, you... Somebody give me some spare dollars yeah?
I upped my pledge to $60 for the physical copy. I'm a sucker for physical and I was backing the project anyways so...
@Punished_Boss_84 I kinda figured
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Believe me, I'd love to. Just have to lay golden eggs first.
Ild back it if kickstarter accepted PayPal, which they don't unfortunately
Backed with $6 how generous am I. It was at £4.13 mil or something. Next milestone is $5 mil and them there's quite a few things to aim for - so if it goes over $5mil will put more in.
Never played the games but it would be cool if S3 included S1 & S2 then i would try it. i would never play the 2nd or 3rd games without playing the 1st ones
So the only way you can get a physical copy is by pledging $60 to the campaign? If this is the case, where can you do this at?
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi You're correct! I still play it on my dreamcast. I still have fond memories of how long the game was (in that time period) and still love the story. It's a great game, just ashame I never played the sequel, since I never owned the X-Box, but I still have the sega magazine on when it stated that Shenmue 2 was coming to Dreamcast...and then the next issue stated the system was dead and here's a check for the remaining amount of my subscription to the magazine. I still wish sega was making consoles.
@JLPick they did release II on Dreamcast although it was all subtitled, I didn't mind at all, I wish now I hadn't sold mine a couple of years ago
@JLPick they releases in the pal regions although you would need to mod your dreamcast or use a boot loader to get past the region checks. I believe Shenmue 2 Xbox plays on Xbox 360 through BC, but check first.
This is good not only because game collecting is fun, but because it will be one game less taking up space on your hard drive.
