Here's a nice little bonus: you'll be able to save a bit of cash by buying Rock Band 4 on the PlayStation 4. While developer Harmonix is working with Mad Catz to produce a brand new batch of instruments for the forthcoming musical foray, it's also been busy beavering away on compatibility with most PlayStation 3 peripherals, too. This much we already knew, of course – but the good news is that you won't need any extra accessories to use them.
Why is this news? Well, the solus copy is currently retailing for $79.99 on the Xbox One and $59.99 on the PS4. This is because the former format requires an extra peripheral in order to operate with Xbox 360 hardware, while Sony's system will handle your dusty instruments without any bother at all. You may as well use that extra $20 that you're saving to put towards some downloadable songs or something. And remember, PlayStation Plus subscribers who purchase the digital release will get a bunch of bonus tracks, too. Bonza!

can it be played using old Guitar Hero inistruments?
@viciousarcanum They're saying "some" third-party instruments will be supported. Hopefully they'll put out a compatibility guide before launch.
There is a compatibility guide out there already. Let me see if I can find it...
Here it is!

@ztpayne7 A legend is you!
@get2sammyb haha no problem. We've been excited about this game all year, so I've been keeping up with it pretty well.
Good news for Sony. Already knew that it would sell better on PS4, but now, it will definitely be selling better. Does anyone know if it will use the Playstation Camera in anyway? It's a shame that I have the PS4 camera and only a small batch of games that even use it.
