Sony's on the lookout for good looking people with a PlayStation 4 in order to beta test the next firmware update for the new-gen system. To enrol, you'll need a console, a master account, and an Internet connection – so not a lot, then. If you think that you fit the bill, North Americans can enrol through here, while Europeans can register through here.
The platform holder still hasn't officially confirmed firmware update v3.00, but it seems imminent now – especially seeing as it's already being tested overseas. New additions as part of the system software overhaul include YouTube broadcasting, What's New comments, and more. You can click through here for the current patch notes.
One thing that we do know is that the Western beta will begin in early September, suggesting that the firmware update itself won't be too far behind. Will you be applying to lend a helping hand, or would you rather wait for the final refresh? Put on your construction hat in the comments section below.

Is there any news on the rumoured oovoo video chat? I was hoping that was going to be implemented by now. Well if it was ever going to happen at all?
Ok signed up when can I expect my check?
@noodleking1987 Haven't heard anything for a while.
Well I saw a video of member of Oovoo announce it back in January and said it would come in somewhere in the q2? Hopefully it will come soon as I've never done game chat, and seems like a changer.
@get2sammyb Did I read somewhere that you can create groups with the new update?
I prefer not to take the risk
I did it hope i get in
So I'm gonna brick my ps4 so others can have their perfect firmware ? NO THANKS
So if a beta tester for the PS4 firmware happens to have his/her system bricked because of an issue with the new unreleased firmware, does that mean Sony will replace there PS4.
Firmware updates aren't without problems, hence the beta test before a full worldwide release.
I myself would not be willing to use my PS4 as a beta testing machine for firmware thats new and not fully tested.
The only beta test I did was purchase my PS4 day one.
Even if Sony do replace any PS4's that become bricked due to the new firmware, I would still be without my system until Sony got a replacement shipped out, and to be honest I'd rather not be put into that position.
@KAPADO
MS has from the beginning beta testers on their XBO and almost no problems at all. And if there are any problems, it is fixed in one or two days normally. I guess Sony will be that fast as well.
And being a beta tester is very popular on the XBO because you have the new functionality earlier than the rest.
I've signed up but even if I get in I may not take part, I don't want to run the risk of bricking my system but if my name is down for future firmware betas and there's been no horror stories then it'll be cool.
@Cyber-BLP-- when talking about being paid for work you do fairly often see it spelt "paycheck" as well as "pay cheque", so it's a valid abbreviation.
Anyhoo, I'm inclined to agree with the general consensus here that I don't really want to take the risk of breaking anything. The only feature I'm really fussed about from the patch notes so far is the Community feature. The rest doesn't really bother me, in fact I'm quite surprised they're going to 3.00 with that feature set. If anything I'd say this patch is more of a 2.6/7.
Oh no you don't Sony. I've heard what happens to Beta testers...
The get locked in a Life-or-death VRMMORPG and when they are exposed to being a Beta tester they are also called a cheater, thus "Beater"
Hmmm I'm a Test Analyst by day.....not sure if I want to be a Beta tester by night! But on a serious note gaming is the area I would like my career path to take, in a perfect world
I signed up
