Volume sneaked into the world this week to great reviews. However, one criticism that has been levelled at it is the check-pointing system which seems rife for exploitation. The creator of the game, Mike Bithell, has responded to the criticism on the title's website by saying: "We're going to augment Volume with a more difficult mode, focused on another protagonist, a tougher leaderboard which rewards pure stealth play, checkpointing only when unseen, and no story to distract you from the thievery."

Bithell also stated: "For those who were happy with the game's checkpointing, don't worry, that's still going to be there for you." Which is brilliant for this author, because he's terrible at stealth games and hopes to one day be able to fumble his way through the game.

Of course, adding a whole new difficulty mode in response to the criticism is a great way of handling things. However, this particular writer wouldn't expect any less from the man who made him care for 2D shapes more than he does his own family.
