Well that was a pretty short-lived rumour. As we reported earlier today, unnamed sources had apparently told VG247 that more microtransactions were coming to Destiny. In this case, you'd soon be able to buy ammo synthesis packs with real money. Needless to say, a lot of Guardians weren't too happy to hear about this potential leak.
However, according to GameInformer, publisher Activision has swiftly debunked the rumour. In a short but rather definitive statement, a representative of the company told the publication that "we're not doing that". Good news, we suppose, as we're not sure how much more of a beating Bungie can take from the internet. Indeed, there are dozens of articles flying around the web right now damning the developer and its sci-fi shooter for multiple reasons.
We're just going to go ahead and play some games that aren't Destiny until Bungie's ready to announce something new, if that's all the same to you.

If something like this would be true that would be the end of real gaming...... For me that is.
I remember a few years back when people joked about microtransactions and having to buy ammo with real money.
....it's getting closer.
Its funny its almost as if Activison are leaking these stories to get people talking about Destiny again. There is no such thing as bad publicity after all.
Destiny 2 will have to be really good for me & I imagine others will get it, I haven't played Destiny for some time now because almost everything was the same especially in PVE.
@Flaming_Kaiser Buy games like Witcher 3 and other cool games that dont nickel and dime you - trust me people are fed up of this already, theres a pay to win market out there, but most dont have never ending funds or cash to waste on little more than wet farts (said that twice today need a better vocabulary) The big problem with Destiny that no one really talks about is the way the game has changed from its initial base game to the multitude of rule changes, ok its a bad example as the changes have all been positive - but what if the changes actually regressed the game? or worse still started to incorporate pay to win mechanics? would we be due a refund as its not what I bought?
@ApostateMage Wasn't there that Need for Speed game that sold FUEL for real money?
@themcnoisy No refunds! "Actual gameplay / online experience may vary" and other similar stuff you acknowledged with the EULA by hitting "X".
@Draythedestroyer aye, it's win win for vg247 and bungie
Really, you have not played Destiny since TTK if you think anyone would buy synths with actual money. First off, they now drop from the chests regularly in Kings Fall. Secondly, the raid itself requires less shooting at things and more mechanics to follow, I can go through the whole raid with only using 4 weapons - Treads Upon Stars + Black Spindle or Touch of Malice + Eirene, if I need to buy any sort of synths, which I haven't for ages, it would be for special ammo, and those drop like crazy anyway.
So why would anyone would ever buy synths is beyond me, this is not like Crota where you'd need to pop a synth after every rotation to stagger Crota, or rush into the Deathsinger's room and Gally the crap out of her, no one needs this these days. How is that pay to win? If anything, if anyone buys any of what Bungie is offering then they are immensely stupid, waste money that could buy you a game, possibly two, in leveling a character up to a mediocre level that you would find yourself one day after playing the game? Please, Bungie may have a lot to answer two about this second year, regarding 70% of the whole game content being useless now, end game is a RNG joke that may or may not bring your level up, nightfalls are useless without the buffs and proper rewards of year 1, no actual content in sight, but if they are making any money off of what they are selling, they are bloody geniuses!
@themcnoisy To be honest anyone that stuck with them from day 1 were screwed. All those raids and gear, all the money you gave them, to have these folks coming in now paying about 20 quid to have what you paid anywhere from 80 to 140, to not just have lost the biggest part of the game, but to get nothing of worth in return for your loyalty, and effectively making Destiny what it is now, or better, what it was at the start of year two.
"Were not doing that".
Knowing Activision, this leak was no doubt their saving grace, and they were going to do ammo Microtransactions but given the multitude of hate they straight up panned it 😂
@xX_RiscazZ_Xx I loved my time with Destiny - great game. But your never 'finished' its a perpetual cycle and after we had finished the raids and it was tough and a great laugh. I knew that high wouldn't come again.
But adding micro transactions into a full rice game is immoral and unethical regardless of how its sugar coated. I've paid god damn it give me the full game!!!
@themcnoisy but that is the beauty of it, the full game is there for everyone to enjoy still, you're paying for stuff that you can easily grab in multiple ways! Whoever did pay for that, like whoever pays for any level 26 upgrade, is either lazy, stupid of both!
