Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, perhaps best known for her roles in Ex Machina and The Danish Girl, will play Lara Croft in Warner Bros and MGM's forthcoming Tomb Raider movie reboot. The Oscar-winning actress has secured the role despite it being heavily linked with Star Wars' Daisy Ridley. According to Variety, movie makers were merely waiting on a fresh draft of the flick's script before making Vikander's involvement official.
The film will be directed by Norwegian Roar Uthaug, who may just have the best name in show business. Much like the recent games, the movie will attempt to depict the Brit aristocrat as a real human being, which we prefer to the cartoon character of old. It looks like the flick's targeting a 2017 release date – perhaps PlayStation 4 owners will have had a chance to play the latest game Rise of the Tomb Raider by then.

Angelina was Sammy's favorite Lara, nobodies going to replace her.
lol Tomb Raider
Michael Fastbender's starring as the lead in the Assassin's Creed movie. Wonder who's gonna earn bragging rights for being in a better video-game movie.
Thanks for your opinion but let's not go there, thanks -Tasuki-
@whywai88 Maybe shes good at crying constantly like the game reboot of croft.
Better choice than Daisy Ridely. As much as critics disliked the Tomb Raider movies I enjoyed them never took themselves too seriously. Also they were made at a time where movie studios did not make great adaptions. A lot has changed in the industry since those days. Looking forward to this reboot.
@whywai88 Let's not do this.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi
Right on! Never waste an oppurtunity to squeeze a Mad Max reference in!
That's cool, as we learnt this week game to film adaptations are always awesome
I think they need to downplay the general publics perception of Lara Croft and focus on character. I think a solid adaption of the recent reboot (perhaps with some better writing and support characters) will be a really good start.
What a lot of people (my wife especially) never really understood is that the Tomb Raider games (with some notable exceptions) were more than just an attractive lady grunting.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi It's actually one of the best films I've seen in years and her character is central to it. This isn't a robot like C3PO or something like that.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Yeah, but the whole point of the film is that she's essentially human and not just a basic robot like we have now.
Anyway, even if it wasn't the case, I don't think she'll have much trouble repeatedly muttering while falling out of a tree or down a hill.
@Matroska Please watch the language. I know I have warned you in the past and you have been doing well, let's not get lazy now. -Tasuki-
Ok guys this article is not about a certain female body part and neither should the comment section be. I have deleted some comments that want to think otherwise so this is a warning that anymore female body part talk and your comments will be deleted and you will earn a vacation from the site.
Thanks for understanding.
To be fair the female body part's are the only thing worth talking about in the whole article, why is this article here? I couldn't care less if they get the rockweiler from 2 door's down to play the old tart in the film,it's a film are you going to start reviewing film's now?
