In case you hadn't noticed, many Japanese titles are still being released on PlayStation 3 in the Land of the Rising Sun. Here in the West, we usually only get the current generation versions due to the sheer popularity of the PlayStation 4, but i's been clear for some time that last-gen development can hold projects back, preventing them from fulfilling their potential.
For some, this was the worry with Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2, which was announced yesterday. Its predecessor, Dragon Ball XenoVerse, launched on both PS4 and PS3 worldwide, and although it's hard to argue exactly how the release was limited by last-gen development, we've no doubt that fans will be eager to see what the property is capable of when it isn't stretched across multiple platforms.
Fortunately, the brawler's Japanese announcement trailer - which you can watch below - confirms that the sequel is a PS4 exclusive in Japan, meaning that it isn't in development for PS3. Here's hoping that developer Dimps is able to take advantage of this, and craft a truly next-gen Dragon Ball game.

I loved the first one despite its flaws so if they fix some of the issues in the first with this new game and add some more powers/transformations I'll definitely get it. DBX was in my opinion one of the best dragon ball games so a continuation of it is awesome.
Those 2,000 X1 owners in Japan I guess are going to miss out.
As a PS3 owner I say - it's about time. 2 years is long enough. This holiday will be 3 years, well almost 3 in Japan as it launched in Feb. Companies should be moving forward by now. FIFA and Just Dance can go forever last gen, just keep recycling, but newer properties like this need to push the envelope. Well as long as they don't push it all the way to PS4K Neo.
It's about time! Persona 5 should let PS3 behind too, but now is almost done.
I wish they would do this with the sword art online games
wish it was going to be on ps3
