We try not to run unsourced stories here at Push Square, but this one's more obvious than the Box Office eventually milking every comic book character dry: Injustice 2 is in development and is about to be announced. The rumour comes courtesy of a French site's "inside sources" β but let's be realistic, it's obviously happening.
The site claims that the NetherRealm developed superhero sequel will release in May 2017, two years after the vanilla version of Mortal Kombat X. With the Wonder Woman and Justice League movies [Sigh β Ed] both due out in 2017, it stands to reason that Warner Bros will want a quality game on store shelves as well.
And, to be fair, the original was pretty darn good. Despite having the worst title since Rosco McQueen Firefighter Extreme, we found the DC Comics clash-up to be extremely entertaining β particularly the ostentatious super moves, which took the term "OTT" to the next level. We fully expect this one to put in an appearance at E3 next month.

And E3 would be the perfect time to announce it. Big fan of the first one.
@Gamer83 Yup! Convinced this will be officially announced in a few weeks.
As a DC fun, I would love to see this one, but the first felt kinda strange while palying, can't describe what I mean, but MK combat was more fluid.
I think the first injustice set the gold standard for single player content in fighting games
Aslong ad Dick Grayson's Nightwing is back, I'll be more than happy!
well i thought the first was decidedly "MEH" but i did see potential so i'll keep an eye out
Gods among us is a great name, it's what they should of called that effing movie that came out a couple months ago (which had a terrible name)
@DualWielding MK9 set the standard, Injustice used it to create one of the best comic games ever made.
@viciousarcanum Injustice: Gods Among Us is a horrible name. Truly terrible.
Just tell me when I can preorder it. Injustice was one of my favourite games of the last generation.
Someone has been watching Caddicarus last night
Hopefully they won't make Wonder Woman look like Chyna this time.
@get2sammyb it's not as bad as Battleborn
@DualWielding
LOL
@get2sammyb
It's up there with the likes of Tiny Tina...
There was too many batman characters In the first one! Need more Green Lantern and Wonder Women.
I hope there's a special move called Martha.
Awesome the first one was great and it did leave off for a sequel so why not
@chiptoon I couldn't help but to literally LOL at that!
I thought injustice was very good, no temptation to buy a sequel though, happy with what I've got.
I hope they use more skins from the Arrowverse and include some characters from Legends of Tomorrow.
Hope the character design will be better this time around... the last one were awful...
@Sir_JBizzle @chiptoon
Ha ha - Bravo Sir, Bravo
I've played the first one when it's free on ps plus, the game story is seriously good, I think batman v superman movie is prequel to this game.
The game was a brilliant fighter and while there was too many Bman characters a sequel would be welcoming.
Loved Injustice.
@get2sammyb you are like the only person to think so
