Alienation didn't set the world alight quite like Resogun before it, but in a year that's seen the release of several strong PlayStation 4 exclusives, it's one of the better ones. And now it's been updated as part of patch v1.03, bringing with it the local co-op support which was promised all the way back at launch. You'll be able to play with two to four buddies on the same screen if you so choose – neat, eh?
That's not the only improvement, of course. In addition to the usual roster of bug fixes, new Trophies have been added, while a bonus Leagues mode has been incorporated, enabling you to climb ladders in order to unlock bullet colours. There are also new difficulty tiers and much more – you can peruse the full roster of improvements through here. Amazing support from Housemarque as always.

I remember a lot of people wishing for local co-op so hopefully this gets a few more people onboard - a really fun twin stick shooter with plenty of depth.
Wait, this game already came out? I COMPLETELY MISSED IT UGH!
I didn't know this game already came out! WOW I need to get my hands on this.
ive been waiting for the local co op. my friend and i LOVED playing dead nation. ive been clamoring on about alien nation since i first heard of it, of course when it released and i found out it was online co op only it was like taking an arrow to the knee and realizing my adventuring days were over. so this is GREAT! the game looks AWWWWEESOME! cant wait!
@Neolit The game is great for me and looks fantastic.
@Neolit I'd say you're probably being overly pedantic. It feels great to play in my opinion. My only gripe is perhaps the guns don't hold enough bullets between reloads - there is a tactical reload element to it that I find interesting but I can see it being frustrating for some people.
One thing though, I'm not sure how it'll work co-op, unless it has split screen. It'd be tough to expect players to remain on the same screen (like DN) with the amount of explosions and general chaos going on.
Nice! I was waiting for local co-op to be added before I purchased it. Looking forward to playing it. I put a lot of hours into Dead Nation.
These guys are amazing at supporting their games.
I'm happy to double dip on Alienation as my physical edition copy just arrived today.
@Neolit Alienation plays very smoothly, even with the bumper triggers to shoot. I can't say that I'm as engaged in Alienation as I was in Dead Nation. Don't get me wrong, the new game is eons forward in terms of gameplay and graphics, but it's definitely missing the "oh shi..." moments that were present in the slower paced Dead Nation. Nevertheless, Alienation is still a good game.
Need to check some videos.
NOW Im gonna get it - was waiting for the local coop ^^
alienation is one of the 3 best games on ps4 it destroys dead nation in every way possible, no comparison, me and my girl play constantly. The rpg elements, upgrading, and the looting is absolutely fantastic, sorry but dead nation sucks is comparison
In comparison
