You wait weeks for a steady stream of PlayStation 4 titles to release in Japan, and then four come along at once. That's good news, right? Well, it's obviously better than nothing, but when we actually take a step back and look at these latest software numbers, we find ourselves struggling to pick out any real positives.
No Man's Sky entered in third place, but only sold through a meagre 22,000 copies. Following up in fourth, The King of Fighters XIV - which has already bombed here in the UK - sold through just 20,655 units, while the latest Sengoku Basara game only managed to shift 15,592 copies in sixth. Even Hatsune Miku had a rough time, with Project Diva X selling through 12,915 copies and landing in eighth. Not great, is it?
Things get even worse when we take a look at the hardware charts - but at least there's a clear cut reason for that. Sales of Sony's current-gen console dropped by about 12,000 units, meaning that the PS4 slipped into third for the first time in ages. However, the sudden dip comes as no real surprise; the Slim is just around the corner, and as a result, regular PS4 stock is in short supply.

Dem PS4 stock shortages.
Still awaiting slimness, I see.
Maybe half of Japan is waiting for the slim and the other half for Neo?
Or maybe they were all waiting for FFXV and now they are bitter like me.
@MadAussieBloke Neo's head should be replaced by Kaz's
They need a new Sony handheld. All I'm saying..
Not the best of times for PS4. Sony hasn't handled the slim/Neo transition well at all, the negative reputation for NMS isn't helping matters and PSVR isn't exactly instilling confidence in the future of the PS4 ecosystem. Hopefully slim/Neo will make things better and Sony will put PSVR behind them.
I am more curious about the number of people that refunded no mans sky.
@goonow Was the game that horrible? I wanted to get it, now I'm worried that I won't find it.
@JLPick late reply i know the game isn't bad, it just gets boring and some people have major crashing issues even on PS4. If you really want to play it than its better to get it later when they fix it and maybe add some more stuff. The only thing I actually enjoyed in the game was the art style. I think the game is gorgeous.
