The athletics is finally underway at Rio 2016, and despite an unoccupied stadium, we're really looking forward to seeing some medals being won on the track. Sticking with the sport, the Premier League season also gets underway this weekend. Not an enormous amount of time for video games, then – but here's what we're playing all the same.

After my No Man's Sky live stream earlier this week, I've developed quite the taste for blasting alien life forms to pieces. Therefore, this weekend will be spent roleplaying a planet hopping jackass, who names newly discovered creatures – such as the Steroid Weasel – before exterminating them. I just hope those killjoy Sentinels don't interfere with my genocidal roadshow.

I'll be spending some time with No Man's Sky as I continue giving it a shot. It's a game that I love. I just wish I also loved to play it. I'm also going to probably play some Rainbow Six: Siege as I play that just about every day. And I should probably get back to my Persona 4 Golden playthrough after being sidetracked from it.

I'm exploring space this weekend in No Man's Sky. Having hit the jackpot with a planet filled with tunnels of gold, I'm making a rapid ascent towards the larger ships.

I'm way behind on my Platinum Trophy challenge, so this weekend I'm hoping to boost my numbers by finally completing Until Dawn, and then moving onto The LEGO Movie.

I've been itching for a bit of challenge in my games lately, so besides the usual Overwatch, I'm going to pile on the difficulty with Bloodborne's The Old Hunters on NG+ (lord, help me) and mixing that up with some Hyper Light Drifter, which I bought on an impulse due to its irresistibly charming visuals and music. Can't wait to dig into them both!

It's No Man's Sky all weekend for me – and actually all week too as we're taking it to an exhibition "for work" where people can come and play for 10 mins taking the exploration further – on our beautiful 65-inch screen. It's going to be tough (actually if your name is Sammy B it really might not sound that tempting) but I'm stoked for it as I have just bought a new spaceship that looks a lot like Boba Fett's Slave 1.

With the Star Wars: Rogue One trailer dropping on Friday, I'll be going back to Star Wars Battlefront 2 this weekend – I like that game, if you haven't already guessed. I'll also be getting stuck into The Witcher 3, which I should finish in approximately seven years.

It's been a packed week of gaming for me, with No Man's Sky occupying most of my time. Now that the review is done and dusted, I'm diving right back in at my own pace, soaking up all the sights and sounds of this weird and wonderful universe. I might be playing this one for a while.

Still not too much gaming for me due to the Olympics, so I thought now is a good time to tackle my backlog, starting with Borderlands 2.
Right, then – what are you playing this weekend? You know the drill by now – let us know in the comments section below.

No Mans Sky for me this weekend
Bit of No Man's Sky and a bit of Divinity Original Sin which I've really started to enjoy. No Mans Sky is enjoyable but I really hope they add meaty content in future updates, the game feels empty to a degree and a bit too lonely.
Divinity is turning into a very enjoyable gem of a game, it's has a really fun magic system to play around with
PSP - God of War: Chains of Olympus, this game has been epic so far, I can't believe I passed this by all these years.
Xbox 360 - Daytona USA, man this game brings back childhood memories
Windows 10 - Disney Infinity 3.0, with the impending server closure, I'm finally getting into this with my kids.
Sammy's favorite game
Just No Man's Sky for me.
Just finishing gone home ps4, still playing god of war 3 remastered and of course, no man sky.
Hyper Light Drifter, ABZÛ again, and more of Infamous Second Son.
Exploring systems in my ship which looks like the Colonial Vipers from the original Battlestar Galactica.
NMS for me. Maybe a bit of uncharted 4 crushing and Hyper Light Drifter.
@Kyroki I liked The Order: 1886. Many people don't appreciate how Ready At Dawn had successfully created such a vast world and graphical achievement in the FIRST GAME of a new IP. I understand some of the criticisms regarding the game length and shooting mechanics, but i also think it is a mostly underappreciated game in my opinion.
I think I'm gonna start sending friendly "hello neighbour!" messages on PSN whenever I see another player's discoveries (Seen one so far )
No Man' s Sky and Doom!!
@Mega-Gazz Found two systems that had been previously discovered but forget to send a message saying hi
No Man's Sky and maybe a little Neverwinter.
@Alexstinton Steroid Weasel
Haha that thing looked mad, the planet of really small headed big bodied weird animals. Just like in Flint.
It's all vita for me, as I'm in Birmingham for a week, staying with family. Persona golden and uncharted to get my gaming fix when I'm not drinking Unhealthy amounts of alcohol with my cousins.
Just recently finished Minecraft Story Mode so just waiting for the final episode..why all the bad reviews on this one?I think it's just as good as the rest of Telltales games..although killing off one of my fave characters was unnecessary
Will be playing some more Neverwinter,Ape Escape and Odin Sphere..an amazingly beautiful game!
ANYTHING, as long as i'm NOT watching the Olympics
I'm back to Trackmania Turbo. It's an obsession...
I've made peace with the fact that I'll never be good enough to get gold on most levels, but the silver is enough of a challenge to keep me very busy.
It will be No Mans Sky in between Events of the Olympics. Doesnt look like ill be able to touch Abzu or Telltale Batman for weeks to come.
@Kyroki True it can get super lonely on your own. Ive been in party chat with two oyher friends playing NMS though and it all but removes that feeling.
I actually liked The Order 1886!
PS4- One Piece Pirate Warriors 3, Last Blade 2, Street Fighter V
Wii U- Bayonetta 1&2, Tokyo Mirage Session, Smash
Xbox One- Killer Instinct, Dead or Alive 5 LR
3DS- Animal Crossing New Leaf, Monster Hunter 4
I won't get to all of those games though.
I want to finish Tearaway Unfolded. Start was very slow so I dropped it for months. Picked it up again recently and I am enjoying it now. Hopefully I can pull the same with Witcher 3 but not this weekend.
Other than that, more Battlefront or Uncharted 3 with my bro. Possibly more RH Megamix.
Ridge Racer on the vita, there's only 3 race courses and 7 music tracks an absolute disgrace. Will master the game by the end of tonight and pop a couple of trophies on the way.
Playing Uncharted 4 for the first time, which I am very excited about.
@Wazeddie22 I think the same formula as the other TT games combined with the lack of surprises, you always know the team will get through the chapter. But yup just like ever TT game the 7 episodes so far have been fun a comfortable 8/10 from me. It felt weird the first series closed on chapter 4 when I had 5 episodes on the retail disc, the 5th being the floating island thingy totally away from the main games plot. Chapter 6 was pretty cool in my opinion but I can understand why people like it the least.
Just took dying light out of the wrapper had it for a while and I really like it besides that playing sly Cooper 3 life mlb 16 the show
More No Mans Sky, just acquired a new ship and the repairs have come along well so I'm about to warp to the next system in search of the Atlas signal 😃
No Mans Sky and Destiny for me.
@themcnoisy Couldn't agree more,8/10 is the score I'd give all episodes as I have enjoyed them all the same.But yeah that main season finishing on episode 4 out of 5?what the hell was that all about lol
Star Fox 64 3D and a bit of Super Mario World on the New 3DS XL I just bought.
Hitting up Dark Souls 3 to get the last secret ending, currently making my way to Anor Londor.
@themcnoisy I'll be sure to steer clear of Flint in the future. Sounds horrific.
Playing Monster Hunter Generations.
@Gamer83
Add me my man! I play on both my New 3DS XL and New 3DS, so add me on both.
New 3DS XL 5215-3174-9522
New 3DS 0877-3182-0463
Amd may I recommend the top 5 games?
Monster Hunter Generations (MH4U is good too)
Fire Emblem Awakening (FE Fates is good too)
Zelda Link to the PastZelda Link Between Worlds (though Link to the Past is great too obviously!)Xenoblade Chronicles
Donkey Kong Country Returns
If you get Monster Hunter, you're more than welcome to hunt online with me and the guys. Trust me when I tell you this is my favorite video game ever made on any platform. It's absolutely amazing.
I've played a disgusting amount of NMS today.
@JaxonH
I'll be checking out Xenoblade at some point, thanks for the recommendation. I've played the other games. Not a fan of Monster Hunter but Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was one of my top 5 games of 2013 and is still my favorite game on the 3DS today and DKC Returns I bought a while ago. I've had the 3DS since early 2012, I just decided a few days ago to get the 'New' model because I want to play Smash Bros. without all the waiting and being able to play some of my favorite SNES games on the go is too enticing. Even with the NX not far off, I couldn't hold out much longer to see what that machine actually is, so I made the upgrade.
My friend code is 3265-5694-0053. I don't play online that often but I do like building up friends lists on all systems just in case a game does come along that changes my mind. Right now I have no friends on 3DS so I definitely added you.
Uncharted 4 . Simply amazing. Halfway thru. I'm only into single player games so this feels like a birthday present.
@Grawlog
Sunset Overdrive is awesome. Hope you enjoy it. Would be interested to get your thoughts once you've put some time into it.
@sinalefa Never finished the vita version, the way the story is telling, just can't enjoyed that, maybe i play it some day, but not today haha.
After the amazing rising sun rock festival, is time for some witcher 2, and i get back my ps4 so maybe some time with my favorite game on that system Bloodborne.
have a nice sunday everybody!!
@ROBALEXXX
Nice to hear you are getting your PS4 back. Possibly next weekend I will show you a Nendoroid I bought that I know you will like. Waiting for it to arrive from Japan.
@ShogunRok Off topic but are you guys doing the reviews for both Attack On Titan and God Eater 2: Rage Burst?
Managed to finish the platinum of The Order on Friday night. Might go back to Far Cry 4 for the Plat or start a new game. Also need to return to Gravity Rush on vita.
No man's sky
@WanderingBullet We should have reviews for both, yeah.
@ShogunRok Cool, thanks. Any idea if you'll be posting them up before or only after they've released?
@sinalefa
Now you have my attention haha.
By the way i found 2 coins in a box, 70 colones total from one of my youth aventures haha, what can i buy with that much money?
@Gamer83
Oh I gotchya.
First time I tried MH I gave up on it after a few hours. It took hunting online with a friend and having them teach me the ropes and all. Then I loved it, and now it's like my favorite game of all time. My friend Logan got the game the other day but couldn't beat first monster lol, so I jumped online with him, connected a LINE call with earphones, and we hunted til 5am and now he's hooked too 😄
Added btw
@Kyroki Yeah, exactly the same as me. It does deserve more credit and more chance than people gave it. Again, I wouldn't say that it's a perfect game, but there is no such thing as a perfect game.
this weekend i have been playing mainly I am setsuna, I got past the bit where you get the air ship but not sure how much more of the game that's left to do. Between that I've also been playing ape escape and of course Overwatch with some friends.
Playing Gravity Rush Remastered. Great game so far.
strangely enough I find myself playing Grow Home and of course working towards the Platinum for Digimon Cyber Sleuth (so damn close...)
@SPGFan34 @Kyroki The order is okay, I bought it when it's discounted to $10 on psn and enjoyed it. The order 2 will be much better game if ready at dawn listen to the critic of the first game and improve it. Just make the game longer, add more enemy variety, add multiplayer, and no more walking slowly to the next destination. The basic of the game (shooting enemy) is good enough, and the graphics are crazy, if somebody told me it's 60 fps I'll believe it, it's really smooth, it's really like cg.
Ratchet and Clank and Bastion
Disgaea 5, Fire emblem fates and streets of rage 2.
Disgaea 5, Fire Emblem fates and Streets of rage 2.
@WanderingBullet Deus Ex definitely will be. God Eater should be, but can't say for certain right now.
@ROBALEXXX
Man you are rich! You will probably be able to buy a bubble gum with that. I wonder if you have the old coins that are already out of print. Circa 1985.
@ShogunRok Alright, thanks.
