With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt done and dusted - and its Game of the Year Edition available on store shelves - developer CD Projekt Red is unsurprisingly shifting its attention elsewhere. We first heard about Cyberpunk 2077 what seems like a lifetime ago, and now, the Polish studio has confirmed that the game is finally in full development, even though we imagine that this will have been the case for a while.
Posting on its official forums in response to questions from investors, the outfit states that "there are currently more game developers working on Cyberpunk 2077 than on The Witcher 3 in its most intensive month." Thanks to NeoGAF member boskee for the translation.
In other words, the developer is really kicking itself into gear when it comes to its next large scale project. Here's hoping that we actually hear more about it in the relatively near future.
Are you looking forward to CD Projekt Red spilling some tasty details on Cyberpunk 2077? Wait patiently in the comments section below.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the games I am really looking forward to seeing more about. The CGi trailer was very memorable and if anyone can do this justice, CD Project Red can. It will be interesting to see how how they move into a futuristic setting after spending all their time in a historic world
Thanks for linking to the source I really appreciate that. This being said, their next promising project is Gwent Coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC next year, with closed beta starting October 25th!
Anything CD Projekt Red does will peak my interest.
@boskee Whoops, totally forgot about Gwent (for shame). I've changed the text to "next large scale project".
And thanks for translating the post in the first place!
Very much looking forward to it.
I expect news this e3 or the one after
Yesss! Couldn't get much into Witcher 3, was loving it, but fantasy worlds like it always manage to bore me. So excited to see what this game has become, and how enthralling this world's gonna be ghhh.
Yeah, I'd like to see more for sure. I just got The Witcher 3, so I'm looking forward to that too.
I am looking foreward to this even though Witcher 3 did not really grab me like I expected it to.
Cities built upon cities with grimey smog filled streets alive with neon. I love steampunk worlds. Imagine something like Golem City from Deus Ex with the size of CD Projekt Red's hubs..
If CD Projekt Red can take the level of detail, passion and craft that it had in The Witcher into a Blade Runnersque neon lite cyberpunk world then it could be a dream game come true for me.
Looking forward to this one.
2018 GOTY
Yeah, I assume Gwent is more or less finished but we've not heard a peep since E3 have we?
I have yet to play The Witcher 3 but I like the look and sound of this one more to be honest,after all,so many rpgs are set in a fantasy setting that it's good to have a change.A dark and futuristic world for a rpg has definitely got my attention.
It's all on personal taste but....
Outdoor oriented mature fantasy 》Grimey urban cyber-punk...
Basically your all crazy if you disagree, still looking forward to this though as TW3 is one of the best games ever.
I'm really hoping for Deus Ex on steroids with this one.
@sub12 and I couldn't disagree more I'm afraid, ye olden days is all well and good but give me an awesome scifi setting and soundtrack and I'm in heaven.
Best ye olden day setting? Final Fantasy 9. Followed by Ultima Online.
Loved W3 but I really hope they improve the looting as that drove me slightly mad!
CD Projekt RED is proud to collaborate with Mike and bring this city to life in its upcoming RPG – Cyberpunk 2077. The game will be set in the near future, in which advanced technologies have become both; the salvation and the curse of humanity. A multi-thread, nonlinear story designed for mature players (a CD Projekt RED trademark) will give players a chance to freely roam the open-world and visit places well known from the pen-and-paper RPG “Cyberpunk 2020®”, including a combat zone completely taken over by gangs, the legendary Afterlife joint and the nostalgic Forlorn Hope.
@kyleforrester87
Deux EX on steroids??!! Here's a copy of MGS5 and the door, don't let it hit you on the way out.
I'm expecting a smash hit
@sub12 lol not sure about that
Deus Ex series has it's own flavor, I hope Cyberpunk finds it's own identity. Looking forward to it!
Am sooooooooooo looking forward to this game. Hoping that the CE will include a 12 inch statue of the iconic kneeling female android with spiky arms. I need that figure to sit on my gaming table. Glorious!
I have no idea how this game will feel or play, but...yyyyeessssss
This is easily one of my most anticipated games. It sounds too good to be true. I want to believe.
@Splat The expression is "pique my interest"
@sub12 you're*
It seems pretty interesting! Hopefully we'll get some more information about it as the year draws to a close.
I wish other devs/publishers would take note - if you produce a good product, support it and the fans you get loyalty and a built in interest in your next product. I have not played the Witcher 3 yet but everyone I know who has raves about the effort put into it by the devs. So I am interested in anything these guys do.
If this is a mixture of Witcher 3, Deux Ex and Cyberpunk then i'm all in!
I'm looking forward to this one! One very fine and talented developer 😄
@JediWombat
People know who developed the Witcher. Not saying CD Projekt Red is kinda a low blow in the headline.
I am looking forward to anything and every thing CD Projekt Red does! I also have been following and hoping for Cyberpunk 2077 news from day one.
