A whopping eight PlayStation VR games entered the UK sales charts this week, with PlayStation VR Worlds placing the highest in seventh position. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood finished ninth, while RIGS: Mechanized Combat League, EVE: Valkyrie, and DriveClub VR finished in 12th, 20th, and 23rd place respectively. Elsewhere, Battlezone, Loading Human, and Super Stardust Ultra VR also placed in the Top 40.
FIFA 17 once again topped the best sellers list, with Mafia III moving down into third. WWE 2K17 finished above Rise of the Tomb Raider, which ended up placing in fifth following its PlayStation 4 launch. Early estimates put its day one figures around the same as those on Xbox One last year, signalling a big decline for the franchise after Square Enix's decision to remain exclusive to Microsoft's machine for one year.
Elsewhere, Dragon Quest Builders entered in 13th place, while Skylanders: Imaginators climbed into eighth. It's nice to see so many new releases on the chart for a change, isn't it?

Straw poll: how many of you bought your PlayStation VR games physically? Makes more sense to get them from the PS Store, no?
I'm not keeping my ps vr so I will buy ps vr games physically on retail store (so I can sell it after I'm done playing it), maybe with the exception of until dawn, man the game's demo is fun and I don't think I can wait too long for the game to come to retail store
Also it's nice that tomb raider finally come home, and in the 5th position
I bought Battlezone physically and probably will for all releases that support it in case I don't like the game and want to trade and lend out. However, majority are digital only at the moment so that informs my decision the most!
Edit - Shame about Tomb Raider. I hope it gets enough revenue in for a third title. The issues here are, to my mind, all to do with the exclusivity and the timing of the release. Putting this up last year near Fallout 4 and Black Ops, and doing the same this year with VR, FIFA, GOW4 and Battlefield, Titanfall, COD about to release is not great timing.
Expect sharp declines for VR titles after the launch week.
@Mahe Yeah, not least because there is no more hardware out there to buy and limited titles so not lots of people coming on buying up the games.
@Mahe Obviously. What's your point?
I purchased 10 launch titles, 3 of which were retail (Rigs, Until Dawn & VR Worlds). It surprised me how little space these VR titles take up & kind of wished I had gone all digital.
Moving forward I'll only be picking up retail versions should they exceed 30GB (Rigs is currently the biggest at 20GB).
Also not surprised about TR at 5th. What did square expect? Price drop incoming.
Who on earth is buying VR Worlds. Most of the games will drop in price sharply, if I had the demo disc I'd be spending my money elsewhere.
It seems PS4 players have sent a strong message to square. They may have cashed in with cash from Microsoft, but overall they have damaged there reputation and pissed of there biggest fan base. And in the long run they will loose money due to there greedy decision.
Not surprised that Driveclub is low, I suspect most took advantage of the digital discount.
Must be the only week since September 2013 that didn't have GTA V in the top 10.
Square hasnt damaged anything. They made a deal with Microsoft and gave Sony players a nice upgrade for the year-long wait. Get over it, chances are they made a great deal with both companies and came out on top. Nevermind that the PC release sold like gangbusters.
Anyway, let's see if PSVR goes beyond "flash in the pan" status throughout the rest of the year.
@fight_teza_fight They have to be full games in order to be full size. Also, everything under the sun will be getting dropped in price across the holiday season, as it always has.
@BertoFlyingFox I don't think the game that's sold less than the earlier version (tomb raider 2013) can be considered a great deal to square enix
Rise of the tomb raider sold +-1 million on xbox one, and +-1 million on pc (according to steamspy), it sold good for a pc game but not "gangbusters".
@get2sammyb I bought discs for Rush of Blood and Driveclub, for the Amazon Prime discount. But it is nice to be able to change between digital games without taking off the helmet. And as others have noted, the install sizes are pretty small.
Also, has anybody been playing Battlezone? Curious about matchmaking. I ordered a disc for that as well, in part because of the enthusiasm shown about it here, but sent it back because I kept reading about how strongly it favors team play.
@BertoFlyingFox Matter of perspective. The game size definitely isn't indicative of quality, that's for sure. Sure there are experiences but games like Rigs, Battlezone, Thumper & Rez, are fully fledged games. The latter two I'd even put in my top 10 of the year.
@MadAussieBloke I'm with you. I started the demo of WoFF and thought, nah. The only thing that will bring me back is when the releases slow to a trickle over the next couple of weeks, but at the moment, it's the most fun I've had in years gaming. I think you said something similar.
To those on the fence here: There are several excellent 'full games' out for PS VR, but unfortunately a wilful disregard of that fact from many outlets. EVE: Valkyrie looks great and is reviewing well. Rigs is great fun, as is Driveclub VR*, which has dozens, if not hundreds of hours of content. The review here (in my opinion) doesn't do it justice. I've been on it all day, it's so so good. I just hope a few more of PS4's driving games get patched...
Tumble VR is good offering a long and varied playthough, Rex sideways 8 is excellent - and that is a full game despite what the need it now naysayers will have you believe.
*I can't find the site recommendation thread, but you (Push Square) should allow user reviews, probably in the forums somewhere. I think it's even more pertinent with VR where so many users will have wildly varying experiences.
@Mahe so what? I predict Thumper and once released, Robinson and Farpoint will enter the top 10....
Still interesting how many VR only titles made it into the charts, with Rigs in 12th position, Eve and Battlezone on 20th and 28th respectively. I mean, they are full price titles on a relative small hardware installbase... chapeau!
Edit: GFK doesnt track download titles, do they? That would explain why Thumper and Rez didnt make it...
@Furtin You're right they don't. The PS Blog does however list the top selling digital titles for each month. When they decide to release the post, I expect to see a few VR titles making the top 10.
@Rudy_Manchego
Unfortunately Rise of the Tomb Raider didn't stand a chance once the idiots cut out the two biggest fanbases. We can sit here and say it's a business decision, blah blah blah. Nobody should hate on MS for it the way they did because Sony does this crap too, but SquareEnix and Crystal Dynamics do deserve the ire sent their way. If we don't get a third game, I'm not blaming PS4 and PC gamers because of their bitterness, I'm blaming it on complete stupidity by a company in SE and CD run by idiots who think a the newest game in a series that was never as popular as GTA or CoD should sell the same numbers. That's not even adding in the fact, the reboot wasn't advertised at all. But SE was disappointed and MS had to step into help out. In the process, millions were screwed. I personally think it's crazy to buy mediocrity like Mafia 3 or trash like most of the VR games over one of the best this gen, but I can't say I don't understand the anger either.
