Moogles have long been a staple of the Final Fantasy series. The cute little creatures have helped many a wayward protagonist over the years, and that tradition will be continuing in Final Fantasy XV. Well, kind of.
In the upcoming role-playing release, Moogles aren't actually... alive. Instead, they're essentially big dolls that you can toss at enemies during combat, distracting your foes. As the tagline of this article says, they've basically gone from being recognisable mascots to being punching bags.
What did they ever do to deserve this? Aside from that incredibly annoying voice Square Enix game them from Final Fantasy XIII-2 onwards, we mean. We remember a time when Moogles were cool, man. We remember the glory days of Stiltzkin, kupo.
Anyway, you can watch the gameplay trailer above to see one of these Moogle dolls get a good kicking. What do you make of this fall from grace? Campaign for Moogle rights in the comments section below.

That's a pretty cool idea. I think it's Square Enix' way of saying: we've done away with cutesy for this game, folks!
Turning Moogles into nought but stuffed toys? What's next, Final Fantasy? Turning the combat into a button masher?

I want mail, kupo!
I'm sharpening my knife, kupo!
@johncalmc
Final Fantasy Warriors is coming!
I liked the voice they gave it in FFXIII-2. It was cute, fit the personality of a moogle really well. Dunno what else you could expect really.
With the moogles in FFXV, I prefer them being in the game like this than not at all entirely. I think it's a neat idea too, that actually fits the world.
The idea that opponents will start attacking a stuffed toy instead of your party when you throw it out there is ridiculous. It look really stupid in the video above. I would rather they just kept Moogles out altogether.
@johncalmc Are you implying that you don't mash the attack command in pretty much all FF games
Anyone who has played FFXIV Heavensward will have no problem abusing a Moogle.
On a side note.. DAT MUSIC! I can't wait....
@Jake3103
!VIDEOGAMEZ!
Still waiting for my FF on Switch announcement so I can get a Moogle amiibo. And my way long overdue Cloud and Bayonetta amiibo.
@johncalmc More of a button holder to be fair. Not sure that's any better, mind!
Poor old Moogle.
@ShogunRok You're right, actually. I guess my mind had done it's best to forget that godawful FFXV demo.
@ShogunRok @johncalmc I remember a lot of mashing X to attack in the older FF's
The music is awesome! Moogles as a plush toy kind fit in I guess...i would have had no problem if they were real creatures btw
I think this is hilarious, especially with the ragdoll physics. I'm all for goofy and stupid stuff in this game, since it's been pitched as super serious until relatively recently.
R.I.P. MOGNET
I bet they can't do the moogle dance. I can (In FFXIV)
Anyway, i'd rather have a game full of moogles than those four bozos.
This is representative of the Final Fantasy series itself. The last good games were basically on DS. (And WiiWare, but those were spinoffs.)
@kupo it IS funny, but the world is full of saudadists who like to trash a game we didn't even play yet in the name of the good old days...Final Fantasy has always been goofy! I am actually relieved there seems to be a lot of humor this time around.
@rjejr Amen to that mate!
I just noticed how this this is literally the teddy bear from Earthbound hahahah!
I also love how the magitek (or whatever) soldiers are like "He's throwing something at us! Kill it with fire!" while the Behemoth is basically like the F - this cat meme.
@Feena In FFXV, I'm hoping you can dig in the trash for food items like in Earthbound too.
@kupo hahahaha I know right! "Ness found a Skip Sandwich in the trashcan. Ness takes it."
This makes me want to build an all Moogle party in Tactics: A2 and kick some Hume butt!
