Final Fantasy XV will be at its beautiful best on the PlayStation 4 Pro, with Square Enix announcing on a stream overnight that a December update for the hotly anticipated role-playing game will see the title targeting 60 frames-per-second at 1080p on the supercharged system. An update available on launch day will also see support for 4K resolution at 30 frames-per-second implemented.
Apparently the 60 frames-per-second patch is currently in the tuning stages, with the build hovering between the 40 frames-per-second and 50 frames-per-second mark at the moment. Hopefully the developer can polish that off a little bit more and boost it as close to the all-important 60 frames-per-second target as possible, as that would be a welcome improvement for PS4 Pro owners.

Worth mentioning that the game will be 900p, 30fps on a standard PS4.
Finnaly exited about my purchase.
Just what I wanted to hear, nice.
Yes! Tomb raider, infamous and now this, I'm glad we're getting option to choose better framerate, I have no problem with graphics on my ps4, I just want better framerate.
Bit of shame the patch won't be ready for launch, hopefully it's not too far into December whilst I'll still be playing it...
@AyanamiReign Yeah, a bit disappointing. Still, in the meantime, you'll benefit from the much higher resolution enabled by PS4 Pro. Even if the 4K option is 1440p, that's a big difference compared with 900p. If it's using checkerboard rendering, then will be even better.
So tempted to get the Pro right away for this... Wish there was a bundle or something.
@Feena DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT
Picked up mine last night with Dishonoured 2, I wish I could tell you what it's like but I'm doing a 13 hour shift in work 😢
@carlos82 Be strong, my man!
You would think games by now should automatically run 1080p 60fps as a standard and not a patch.
@kyleforrester87 you devil 👿 lol
Yay, that's the news I've been waiting for.
@tonyp1987 It's a developer decision. Games could be universally 60 frames-per-second as far back as the PSone, but developers choose to use the hardware differently.
With all new games coming out i don't mind if some older games don't get patched, and it looks like dev's will be doing different modes for PS4 Pro games anyway.
Sold, this is the news I've been hoping for cause in all honestly I can't see FFXV running that well on original PS4s.
I'm on my way to pick up the pro right now. I'm in my dirty clothes (I'm a mechanic) but there's no way I'm going home first. Just...15...more...minutes...
@BrettAwesome would you happen to have battlefield 1?
If you do can you check out multiplayer and see if dice got rid of the dynamic resolution. I read somewhere that it's locked at 1080p resolution but it's not confirmed yet.
Yes! SCORE! I got it! I have a ps4 pro...in my hands!
@THEundying27 I plan on buying it soon. But is there even a pro patch out for it yet?
@BrettAwesome awesome! Congrats on your purchase!
As far as the bf1 patch goes, people on Reddit were saying that it's already in there. Many of them were saying that dynamic resolution is gone and that conquest runs a lot better. If this is the case then I'm totally down for the upgrade. But I'm gonna hold off until I get confirmation.
@THEundying27 thanks, man ☺ well...I'll let you know if I pick it up. I just can't wait to see what they've done with the mafia 3 patch
Now this is the sort of thing that would make the Pro more tempting to me. From Soft would be smart to update Bloodborne and DS3 to run at a higher framerate as well.
Okay. This is the one piece of news that has me sold on the Pro.
This is fantastic news. I cannot wait!
@BrettAwesome do share what improvements you see in mafia 3 please.
I thought it was already at 60, but guess not. It'll look good regardless though, so it's far from something to get upset about.
I'm defiantly getting a pro but might have to wait till Christmas hopefully ffxv doesn't lose its magic by then
That's it I'm getting a Pro for Xmas. Man my gf won't be happy😭 (but I will be!)
@THEundying27 Will do!! ☺
@get2sammyb 900p, 30fps on a stardard PS4, that's fine
I know there are some people who bought a PS3 mainly for this game back when it was first announced.
10 years later, Sony may have just sold three consoles to those who really want to play this game - PS3, PS4, and now PS4 Pro.
