How can it not live up to expectations? Just look at these new screenshots for The Last Guardian; in a period where Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare have all released in the span of a couple of weeks, it just looks so different. That's not a slight against any of those excellent first-person shooters by the way, it's just a reminder that variety is the spice of life.
And Fumito Ueda's opus genuinely does look so… Unique. Sony's been keen to keep spoilers relating to this game to an absolute minimum, so we're still seeing the same locations and characters as before. But do any of you really believe that this is going to disappoint? The game design may end up feeling like it's been pulled out of the PlayStation 2 era, but it's going to be gorgeous.
We're sure.

Hype
Hnnnnnnnnnnngh.
Sorry but it looks all bit low res and muddy with limited draw distance and some bad textures. Maybe in action it looks better but to me it looks like a remaster of a PS3 game... which I guess it is to be fair.
@aric201812 Are we just ignoring the exceptional art direction, then?
It will deliver i know it like playing ico forbthe first time again....
@get2sammyb not at all but I personally find it a distraction from the art direction if the image looks less than clean shall we say.
For a game in development for nearly 10 years (now 3yrs into PS4 life cycle) and receiving a full priced retail release I would love it to look like a 2016 game. I would have less issue if it was priced in line with gravity rush, nathan drake collection etc. It may well be that in action the game is a spellbinding experience which is why I asked the question.
These new screenshots look hugely impressive and a big improvement on a game that to me already looked amazing.
Have been saying all along this game won't dissapoint and I'm still convinced it will be just as good as Ico and SOTC.
Colin Moriarty is adamant that it will be just 5 hours long but then he is a curmudgeon. Impressions seem to be that textures are a bit muddy with some dipping framerates and Trico been deliberately disobedient will cause frustration. But then Icon and Sotc had these too and they were still seen as classics.
I wish there was a cuddly toy of the Bird/Dog/Cat thing.

Well, if it turns out to be a dull game. I don't know what to expect from a Team ICO title, but so far it only seems like a game I'll check out because of the hype behind it. Here's hoping that a near decade has paid off for them.
And it will still look like a ps3 game. Trico is nice looking but the rest is just old-gen gray fog to hide the short draw distance.
