For a long time before The King of Fighters XIV launched, there was a lot of controversy surrounding the sequel's shift from 2D to 3D visuals. Previously, the series had prided itself on pristine sprite work, but with the fourteenth entry, developer SNK decided that it was going to dip its toes into the world of 3D modelling. Needless to say, early results were rather ugly.
Flash forward to release, and the fighter actually looked decent on PlayStation 4. However, the negative air surrounding the title's graphical prowess was unshakeable at that point, even though the game turned out to be a pretty solid brawler.
It's nice to see that SNK isn't backing away from its latest release, then, as the studio has revealed that the title's next update will further improve the game's visuals. As you can see from the image that we've embedded above, the lighting effects seem to have been bolstered quite dramatically, and there appears to be a bit more detail to the character model. We imagine that said patch won't be too far away, although no official date has been given.

It's very nice of them to do this at this stage- it makes the game looks a bit less "cheap".
It does look much better, even though the graphics didn't bother me too much.
Say what know? I didn't know you could even do that.
I didn't have a problem with the graphics, but that's pretty cool that SNK did this.
I actually enjoyed the graphics. Not as beautiful as SFV's, but a vastly superior game nonetheless in my opinion.
I thought it looked decent enough. Not all games have to be AAA budget to be enjoyable.
That said, who doesn't like better graphics. I'll take this update gladly. Really pleased with KoFXIV. Such a pleasant surprise to still get a fully loaded quality fighter despite what happened with SFV at launch.
This game with SFV graphics would be one of the best fighting game in years.
Why can't Capcom get feedback and improve? No Arcade mode in sight. Maybe in 2019....
